According to the textbook, Apple is secretive about its operations and technology. On the same note, Steve Jobs was the man behind the secretive organizational culture. Secondly, Apple is against the idea of other companies poaching some of its most prolific employees. The philosophy and organizational culture of being secretive and restricting transfer of employees is for obvious reasons; to prevent stealing of its patents. However, such philosophy tends to affect it negatively in regard to dealing with ethical decisions. Some people are of the view that since Apple operates secretly, it is not prudent to sue others for copying their ideas when they do not know what Apple has patented. As a consequence, a significant number of members of the public think that Apple is trying to establish a monopoly, something which might affect it negatively.

The industry within which Apple operates is so competitive because it deals with products that change with time. Also, despite technology products being on high demand, different people have different preferences. Therefore, companies are trying to differentiate their products to appeal to as a large market as possible. The increased competition makes it highly possible for companies to borrow ideas from the best brands. Apple may also be tempted to borrow ideas from such companies hence increasing ethical risks in its operations.

Lastly, in regard to environmental pollution and the conduct of its retailers, Apple has been exceptional. Particularly, the recycling strategy has made Apple to be regarded as one of the eco-friendly companies. As a result, it has continued to enjoy a positive public image in that aspect (Khan, Alam, & Alam, 2015). However, concerning its strict policy on restricting employees and holding its operations in secrecy, Apple has received strong criticism. The critics argue that such a strategy hinders the freedom of employees as well as limits innovation. Therefore, Apple needs to reevaluate these two aspects.
