Over time, the demand for proper healthcare has increased especially with the remarkable increase in population and the favorable terms of health care. Many countries are making advances towards achieving universal health care, the USA being on the lead. With these developments, health facilities have received a high number of patients that have overwhelmed the low number of health practitioners. Doctors have been entrusted with almost every responsibility in health care yet they make up for the least number of health professionals. Nurses, on the other hand, comprise the three-quarters of all the health professionals, but they have fewer duties in the delivery of health services. The supremacy battle is a significant challenge to the sector and can only be solved by recognizing nurses as competent professionals who can handle some of the primary duties that surround the profession.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) are highly qualified nurses with the expertise, knowledge, and skills to handle patients. These nurses spend a lot of years in medical schools some attaining as far as masters degrees, but their function in the field is limited to a great extent (Institute of Medicine (US), 2011) . They are barely allowed to even consent on the admission of a patient due to the bureaucracy issues. They are also not allowed into decision making and leadership posts in the sector. The APRN nurses are denied the opportunity to fully practice their education and training, an action that which translates to underutilization of resources (Institute of Medicine (US), 2011) . In some cases, they are denied the best education since it is rendered useless at the end of the day.

For the reasons above, nursing organizations are in the wake of trying to defend their roles in the health sector. The associations are seeking platforms where they can exercise their skills in a bid to provide a solution to the issue of the health sector being understaffed while there are skills that are being suppressed from being practiced.
