A model minority refers to a social, ethnic, racial, or religious demographic group whose members are believed to have attained a more significant margin of economic as well as a social success than the average population. The level of success is thus measured by a number of factors such as income, academic achievement, lower levels of criminality, as well as high marital stability. However, the minority concept is a controversial one, as it has been argued over time that there is no need for the federal government to modify the way they handle various socioeconomic disparities facing specific groups in the society.

The model minority status has been supported by the high educational success as well as the ability of the people to be highly represented in suitable jobs. One of the misconceptions is that the affected societies usually have great pride in their identity as the model minority. The model minority stereotypes are perceived to be detrimental to relevant minority community because it is utilized to justify the discrimination of the minorities in the distribution of the aid programs, both public and private, and to understate the achievements of the people within the minority group (Margaret, 2018). Moreover, the notion of model minority pins the minor ethnic societies each other by claiming that the non-model groups are facing some issues that are deterring them from realizing success. This has seen it get a lot of criticism from other organizations for probably unifying the experiences of the Asians Americans and the African Americans regardless of the two groups facing racism on a much different level. The idea is highly related to the United States of America thus it cannot be extensively be utilized in other nations.

Asian Americans are the model minority; when it comes to crime, Asian's are doing extremely good as compared to other minority races in the society. The community is highly educated which has helped them to get decent job opportunities in the nation. It is from the excellent job opportunities that the people have been in an excellent position to lead better lives and in good neighborhoods resulting in them recording low levels of criminality than other the minor races in the country. The other factor contributing to their success in the nation can be attributed to their excellent social structure that has seen teaching their kids good morals, which in turn has helped in reduction of criminality levels in the society (Margaret, 2018). They are successful in business which has seen them realize lower levels of poverty and thus they have remarkably smaller than the other societies. The success can be linked to the lower levels of crime, great success in the community, and lower levels of crime than the other minor races in the USA.

Notably, no recent study has managed to show there are a small number of empirical studies carried out on the topic to determine whether the Asian Americans think of themselves as the model minority and the way other racial groups in the country perceive them. In this essay, the outcomes of a sample survey of an extensive public land-grant higher education on Asian Americans’ perceptions as well as other racial groups views on the Asian Americans career that has been reported. In best understanding the model minority issue, the whites will be used as a comparison group. Studies have shown that Asian Americans think of themselves to be highly prepared, enthused, and more likely to realize a better level of success as compared to their whites in the nation. The Whites accepted the view that the Asian Americans have been superior in the three major areas, Black African Americans, Hispanics, and the native Americans. However, the Asian Americans on their own think that they are inferior to their whites counterparts in the same areas.

Sullivan (2018) claims that the Asian American’s with their firm tow parent family frameworks are giving an excellent example of the best tactics employed by the people to deal with the discrimination problem in the society. The author also claims that the Asian Americans are some of the inferior groups in the nation that are highly successful, well educated, and prosperous in the country. All the success is attributed to the fact they have maintained their social structures efficiently. The society places a lot of focus on education as well as hard work. Thus, they have been able to turn the adverse racial stereotypes into positive ones.

The other fact lies in the notion that the Asian Americans are a monolithic group despite the recent studies showing that they are facing a lot of racial challenges. For instance, the Bhutanese Americans have been realized to record high poverty levels than any other Asian groups in the country, comprising of the Japanese-Americans. Sullivan (2018) argues that the idea of black Americans failure and the success of the Asians cannot be explained by basing the discussion on disparities as well as racism as it permits the whites to avoid any responsibility of addressing the problem of racial discrimination or destroying it in the nation.
