This describes the war between two nations whose strategies differ significantly, for example in terms of standing professional army and a resistance movement. This happens with the aim of achieving an objective through the use of force. Some key factors lead to these conflicts.
Nationalism is a great challenge to most of the countries. A certain state attempts to prove that it is superior to another by violating and in the form of invasion. This relates to racism as it happened with Hilter’s Germany who went to war with Russia because they were seen as slaves who the Nazis believed to be an inferior race (Lowther, 2007). This has brought human tragedy where millions of people lose their homes and livelihood hence increasing the number of civilian casualties.

Wars arise for economic and territorial gain where a country wishes to take control of another nation’s wealth, for example, livestock and gold. A good example is the Mexican-American war which was made by the United States. Scientists believe that as population increases and resources become scarce, wars are likely to occur due to the scarcity of fundamental needs like food, thus generating disputes (Paul, 1994). During warfare, territories are in high demand where land is needed for agricultural use or other purposes. Terrain can be used as “buffer zones” between two or more hostile enemies.
Revenge and civil wars are major concerns. Nations tend to punish and strive back towards another. Historically, this has been a factor in many European wars thus can lead to an endless chain of civil wars which take place when disagreements arise over who rules. The situation creates violence between opposing groups. Countries will often argue that they are fighting for defense against another hence the argument been that “we are attacking them before they attack us.” Loss of lives and property is experienced at a higher rate.
