America was considered to be a place where dreams and new beginnings took place. It was seen as a place for opportunities and the potential to grow and develop. Various factors led to the development of the British North America Colonies. Some of these factors include the need to build railway links which were seen as a vital factor since they needed it for the trade between the colonies (Bayly, 2016). The railway would also be used as a defensive zone especially when sending troops to colonies in case of a calamity. Another factor was the business opportunities that were available and the need to make money significantly led to the development in a big way. The other factor that significantly led to progress was the silver and gold that was found in America, and which was seen as a way to increase their wealth and power. This mostly encouraged the settlement in America leading to growth.

However, there were some differences and similarities among the different colonies. For instance, the Chesapeake or in other words the Southern colonies were famously known for their agrarian economic background which was based on agricultural plantations. The plantations were only involved in a few cash crops like Tobacco, rice and many more (Bayly, 2016). New England, on the other hand, was more economically diverse since they were not relying on agriculture alone. Some residents had turned to other industrial activities such as shipbuilding and fishing for their daily needs. In relation to the political background, they did not differ a lot since they both had self-government that was fully fledged such as the House of Burgesses and many more. In consideration to the Southern colonies, the church that was considered to be of national was the Anglican Church while in New England, the Puritan was the dominant church in relation to the political affairs.
