Quality and Safety Improvement Plan

Chosen 1 (one) Indicator to Improve from above  From the given indicators, I will work on the nurse turnover rate. That is because there has been a 16.8% turnover rate despite the turnover goal being at the rate of less than 10%.
Goal(s) of your Plan

To unearth the reasons that lead to the nurse turnover.

To investigate the nursing units with the highest turnover rates.

To introduce sound solutions to reduce the nurse turnover rate.

What are some essential leadership skills to have when implementing a project?  One of the leadership skills to have when implementing this project is open communication (Cochran, 2017). The leader has to communicate to the nurses regarding the issue of turnover and find out the nurses’ reasons for the issue. The other skill is professionalism. A leader has to apply a professional perspective towards the understanding of the project to reduce the nurses’ turnover rate.
How will you elicit feedback from your staff on the plan to meet your goal?  I will engage the nurses on surveys and interviews to maneuver around the issue of turnover. The questions asked in the surveys and interviews will target to find out the reasons given for the nurses’ turnover rates, the units with the highest turnover rates, and potential solutions for the issue.
What are the specific actions/tasks you will need to implement on your unit to achieve your goal(s)?  After establishing the reasons for the high turnover rate, the solutions to the same will be given. The first solution will be to handle the specific grievances of the nurses (Hofler & Thomas, 2016). The second solution will be to increase the monetary and non-monetary rates of compensation for the nurses.
How will you keep your team motivated in accomplishing your goal?  I will keep my team motivated by celebrating small wins along the way. After the celebration of a small win. I will introduce my team to a bigger milestone towards the accomplishment of the goal.
What data will you collect to determine if your strategic plan is successful or not?  To determine if my strategic plan is successful, I will collect the data regarding the nurses’ turnover rates before and after the introduction of the solutions. A reduction in the turnover rate will mean that the strategic plan is a success.
