Business Requirements

Objectives of Integrating New Technology

Companies integrate social computing to build brand advocacy to its customers to get a broader aspect of them. The sole purpose is to achieve several goals like brand management, service innovation and greater collaboration between employees plus customers.Branding is a form of strategy that will be able to market Chloe’s designs like dresses, tops, shoes, handbags among others. The products will be branded through the social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social sites that the people are always surfing. Besides, wireless, mobile computing and mobile commerce’s, the objective is to get the mobile computing infrastructure that will support m-commerce, that is to say, software, devices, and services ( Mennecke & Strader, 2003) . Idyllically, it is to install the major wireless telecommunications networks that will help to effect quality plus sensory and computing systems.

Project Description

Chloe’s designs need to go through social media for it the best marketing arena for any one’s business most probably that is going to engage in electronic commerce. Social media includes businesses of all sizes, whether large or small ( Hu et al., 2010) . Through social media, Chloe’s designs can promote its brand name, educate its customers that shop online about their products, and get business thoughts from them in the form of feedback. The purpose is to entice new customers, maintain the old ones while still operating as a brick-and-motor business. Social media is a form of marketing that will help Chloe’s designs to reach a broad market around the world targeting groups that use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The good in it is because of ofitsfree, and when paying for anything, it is usually at a low price.

It's being fast enables one to give quick information and also answer back customers that pose questions. However, one should be aware of the legal risks associated with the media, that is to say, security of copyrights, privacy legislation, and laws regarding spam. Hence, there should be strategies for working upon such risks to avoid them when opting to stay around social media.Chloe’s designs should also opt for mobile wireless computing for its customers to access online shopping. Applications like product locating, financial applications, field service management, real estate and inventory management to help with M-commerce in case of transactions to be done online.

The manager of Chloe’s design would like to see employee productivity where they are providing the customers with information and services of the company. Notably, this is because of the help of the mobile devices that enable millions of people through social media when surfing twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Moreover, one desires to see the networking or communication through the advanced technology especially the mobile use. Employees will have to download applications on their mobile phones, which will allow them to connect with their customers through social media like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. One will be able to observe real time communication of the clients and employees whereby applications can be downloaded for customers on their phones when they visit the store.

Furthermore, one would desire to notice any form of developments because of applying the new technology that goes hand-in-hand. Ideally, this kind of communication is fast and provides instant feedback, which helps employees to react to customers’ ideas about the business; thus, helping it to stay ahead. Additionally, desire to see a global advertisement for the business where customers see it through mobile phones. The phones are connected to the wireless internet through SMS, QR codes, mobile websites, banner ads, and IVR messaging through the software. Since these advertisements reach a wider audience, the owner desires to see the brand of business going global to attract extra customers.

Key Technology Requirements

Social computing and M-commerce would require a portable computer like a Palm handheld or Pocket PC device to connect to any wireless internet. Second, calls for short message service (SMS) that permits one to send short messages, enhanced messaging service (EMS) and multimedia messaging service (MMS). Third, wireless application protocol (WAP) that helps when browsing on the internet especially when using wireless devices. Fourth, smartphones that enable mobile applications and can also access the internet to help regarding communication. Fifth, wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi), which enables local wireless networks and it is usually a standard form of network. Also, mobile computing requires hardware that is vital for wireless connectivity like a wireless LAN or MAN adapter, WAN modem, communications server, GPS locator, an enterprise application server, web server and database server. Thus, all the mentioned are of importance when making connections to help connect the business to the world to entice customers.

Competitors and Technology

Social Computing

Bonobos is a company that deals in men’s clothing like men’s suits, denim, trousers, swimwear, shorts, outerwear, and trousers. Bonobos is located in New York, and it operates both in e-commerce as well as brick-and-motor. Bonobos use the social computing mainly email as its principal way of accessing its online customers. Bonobos would send a maximum of 5 emails a day to attract and retain customers to look for buyers of their products. It once held a promotion that ran for a year where they found that those targeting to buy contributed to revenue by purchasing four times from a group they selected randomly.

Mobile Commerce

J. Crew is an American multi channel, multi-brand retailer. It deals with men’s, women’s, children’s accessories plus swimwear and outerwear. J. Crew uses the mobile commerce since people are nowadays using smart phones a lot than anything else. It worked on a new site by then to improve it to capture the customers and retain it ( Evans, 2016) . It has a responsive home page, which works for both the mobile phones and the desktop computers. J. Crew reports that the users of the mobile site have a fast growth day more than sales. The home page displays new products within the business with attached images.J. Crew is benefiting a lot from the mobile sites, which is winning them more customers as they are affecting communication. J. Crew communicates to its clients where it displays new products on the market of men’s, women’s and children’s clothes. Ideally, this pulls customers to come and check them out. Chloe’s design would use this form of technology to widen its market and communicate to them their products of women’ clothes, handbags, and shoes.

Technology Solutions

Social Computing

This facet requires social media applications like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn among others, emails, SMS, MMS that are linked with Chloe’s design that will help it to market its clothes to its customers. Therefore, a system analyst should work hand in hand with the information technologist to look for any loopholes in the system especially those willing to steal the copyrights.

M-commerce

Wireless, mobile computing, and mobile commerce require smartphones, which is different from the desktop or laptop because of their small screen sizes. The infrastructure like the WAP supports wireless devices to access the internet although one has to ensure they are adequately connected to boost performance ( Mennecke & Strader, 2003) .

Recommendations

Technology Solution

One would recommend using a combination strategy of both social computing plus wireless, mobile computing, and mobile commerce. Ideally, these two technologies can work hand-in-hand especially when one wants to access the website. Chloe’s design will have to employ an expert to work on the technology and at the social sites to get feedback from its customers. A lot of persons use the social media to comment or shop with their smartphones, so one has to be available to react to questions that are posed. These two technologies will improve on communication within the business and outside it and help to create innovations basing on clients’ feedback. Thus, progressing development by widely marketing Chloe’s design since it is global.

Overall Benefit

New technology creates innovations within the business in terms of simplicity, price and boosts productivity. Since new technology has been implemented, the company will be able to grow in terms of development whereby it entices new clients to check out the business online and do some shopping. It is also important to implement technology to improve communication in general specifically with the customers and employees. Improved communication in business will make the job less stressful and easier. Idyllically, it is because communication will aid in speed on how it is done in the business regarding feedback. Feedback is always useful in an organization for it gives direction to a company and ranks itself in performance. As a result, a business owner should only wait for progress of the company with an implementation of new technology.

In case the business owner would like to partner with other firms or hire other companies to market their products, then implementation of new technology is the way to go. Video conferencing always makes work easier wiping out the mobility issues where people had to move to another destination or country to hold a meeting. Instead one saves on costs and time by sitting in one place, logging onto the internet with the use of a mobile smartphone. They talk issues through skype as a whole about the future of the business. Correspondingly, the business owner can speak to his employees particularly those in authority of the workers and hold meetings or make decisions concerning business issues.

Security Considerations

Security Features

One should consider placing their e-commerce on a platform like VoIP supply. The platform is believed to be secure from hackers who steal credit card information of the customers. Second, it helps to authenticate users before it confirms any transactions to take place ( Sherif, 2004).

Third-Party Vendors

In line to beat this calling, one can also avoid storing sensitive data online liked credit card numbers as this is a number one pull for hackers to get into the system. Besides, educating the clients and the workforce of the security practices will help to protect credit card data and what is required of them before they complete a transaction.

Internal Safeguards

With the workforce, they should ensure their loyalty and privacy not to share the information with one who is outside the business, and this is done through training. Ultimately, Chloe’s designs should implement the SSL certificates to secure online transactions between the end-user systems and the company website.

Conclusion

In summary, a system analyst should work in collaboration with the information technologist to boost Chloe’s design in regards to e-commerce. When Chloe’s designs employ social computing plus wireless, mobile computing and commerce, it will help market its business. It requires mobile smartphones and wireless devices to connect to the internet to help browse through when shopping. It is important to implement these technologies for brand advocacy, communication, and development of the business. Evidently, Bonobos and J. Crew use these technologies, and their businesses have boomed up. When used in combination with Chloe’s designs, they will help to market the business at a broad aspect. It should consider the security and privacy of the business to prevent it from hackers who steal credit card numbers of the clients. Therefore, Chloe’s designs should implement whatever has been discussed to see the progress of the business.
