Involving the local police department in student affairs is likely to limit their right to free speech. Students have a right to speak out and air their petitions to the school administration, provided they do not disrupt the school's functioning. However, sharing information about the protest groups with the local police department is likely to cause suspicion and prompt the police to stop such groups from holding their activism activities. Such actions by the local authority would violate the civil rights guaranteed by the constitution in the first amendment. In some incidents, involving the police in student affairs has resulted in violent tactics to suppress the protesters' efforts.

In conclusion, the campus protest groups have an essential role in ensuring that the students' rights are not violated both on and off-campus. The student activists have over the years been involved in calling leaders across the political and academic continuums to right wrongs and eradicate inequalities to secure the future of the young generation. The campus protest groups were involved in the Civil Rights Movements and other activism activities that brought a civil change in countries across the world. Therefore, any attempts to subdue their efforts violate their rights and the entire student body's rights.
