The automotive industry employs about 4.2 million people, all who work in different career positions. Each career position has a unique job description. Thus a person in each position executes certain duties and responsibilities in a bid to achieve the general goals of an automotive company. There are many career positions within the automotive industry including management positions. It is important to establish the different duties and responsibilities of individuals with different career positions in the automotive industry since it can give directions to individuals interested in joining the industry. 

Auto Body Technician 

An auto body technician is responsible for the safe and efficient fixing of cars for clients depending on whether the fixing involves repair of car frames, wheel alignment, suspensions among other car body requirements with regards to repair and fixing. To become an auto body technician one does not necessarily require many educational qualifications. However, many employers in the automotive industry show a preference for people with an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or a degree similar to that to secure the position of auto body technician. In the United States, an auto body technician earns about $38,470 per year.

Automotive Engineer 

An automotive engineer is responsible for the building and designing of cars, thus they ensuring factors such as fuel consumption and efficiency, safety as well as the style of the car. In addition to that, it is within this career position that the design of new cars is done in a bid to improve the current models. This career position is rather involving as the car models depend on what manufacturers need, thus the need for mastering of skills while in this career position within the automotive industry. One is required to have a bachelor’s degree in fields such as mechanical engineering among other related fields to pursue a career as an automotive engineer. In addition to that, having STEM skills can be an added advantage together with problem-solving and analytical skills. In this career path on can earn about $84,190 in the United States. 

Auto Sales Manager 

Auto sales managers are the ones who ensure the automotive industry, with regards, to car dealership, is kept operational. They are responsible for the maintenance of inventory levels, overseeing the moving of automotive parts, managing sales teams, as well as helping customers to choose the best cars to buy, thus driving sales of automotive. One is required to have a bachelor’s degree in management or business, as well as experience in management or sales, to pursue a career as an auto sales manager. In the United States, an auto sales manager earns up to $ 78,010 per year. 

Tire Technician 

A tire technician is responsible for the upkeep of tires owing to their significance as a car part, as well as the wear and tear it undergoes over time. Tire technicians also offer services such as tire replacement and repair and are usually part of larger automotive technician teams at auto body shops or warehouses. One requires a valid driver’s licence, as well as a high school diploma, to become a tire technician. In addition to that, experience in car repair, as well as string skills in math, are an added advantage for people seeking a career as tire technicians.
