This week has been a fuss with activities, and more so, with the prevailing worldwide coronavirus situation. I have encountered numerous challenges in my practice, and engagement with adults at the Adult daycare center. The challenges have come from my professional engagements and my social circle. However, the most challenging tasks I have encountered this week are 1. The constant concern of my family about the coronavirus and 2. The need to constantly remind the staff about proper hand washing techniques per as per the CDC instructions and the importance of the use of sanitizer in the process ( CDC, 2020 ).
Coronavirus, as has been explained, is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids from infected people ( McKinley and Sandoval, 2020 ). The CDC directives have explained the symptoms, which include malaise, respiratory distress, dry cough, fever and shortness of breath ( Ziebuhr, 2016 ). While the disease is not instantly fatal, lack of immediate cure makes it dangerous. Thus preventive measures like thorough washing of the hands with soap, and use of sanitizers to handle items are encouraged ( The editorial, 2020 ).

My engagement with the adults in day care have led to more understanding of the day to day operations at an adult daycare center. I have also familiarized myself with the staff job descriptions at the adult day care center. I have learned that an adult daycare center is focused on rehabilitation, providing transition care and socialization. The ongoing issues about coronavirus also necessitates education on preventive measures (CDC, 2020). An adult care center, thus, provides social, as well as nutritional support to those who need the help. From my brief experience, I can confirm that caregiving and providing instructions on various social and health issues are the most engaging part of providing care for adults (Nadsa, 2016).
