The major crisis facing the Commercial Sales Division (CSD) in Bioglass Company is the lack of proper managerial skills within the organization’s management. According to the report, Tom’s team lacked the morale at work which is majorly the driving force of individuals to work hard, hence giving out the quality services required by the customers of that specific organization. Also, Tom, who is now the manager that worked under sales where he had no challenge of making significant decisions in the company. Managerial skills enable an individual to deal with the entire organization’s problems and to lead the subordinate. These skills include Managing appointments and the whole team, delegation of duties, strategic thinking and making developments plans for the organization and lastly major decision making. Tom lacked the skills mentioned above hence he had no idea how to motivate and manage his team and also the new manager after Tom’s reign failed to convince the customers. He was a salesman, not a manager. The new sales champion lacked the managerial skills hence losing the company’s loyal customers due to lack of proper communication and quality service delivery. 

The CSD and the Bioglass Company can avoid the repetition of such incidences in the future through the employment of experienced workers with expertise in specific sectors within the organizations. For instance, a salesperson should know what the department entails. Also during promotions, they should include training in their schedule and learning programs concerning the post. For example, the managerial position discussed above required them to teach the person they would want to promote so as the person to familiarize with what it entails.

For the sake of future promotions, the company should make a general approach of including the entire team, conducting competitive interviews and to introduce probation plan for evaluation. It is best for the company to do on the job training by assigning an active mentor to a newly promoted individual to allow them to to learn the ropes and to succeed in their managerial endeavors. For the future promotions, Bioglass Company must set a bare minimum and matching promotional levels , for instance, Tom would have done best had he been put under mentorship and probation for a period before finally taking over as the full-time manager. 

When carrying out the internal selection in various companies, appraisals play a significant role in determining the most hardworking employees and the success attained by each worker. The functions discussed earlier due to evaluations enables the company to make meaningful decisions concerning promotions and the workers get promoted to post matching their abilities and capabilities. The appraisals received get considered mostly when a post rendered vacant can get occupied by the employees available within the organization. For instance, when employing a sales manager, any salesperson can fill the gap. However, in cases of hiring a general company manager, the appraisals do not qualify that much because the workers within the company can lack the expertise in that field.
