Family is the closest thing a person can get in this world. Whenever society neglects a person, they find a family to lean on. Therefore, it is an indication that family is the foundation of our lives, and we live as we would want to experience the same feeling in our nuclear or extended family. In respect to this, to start a family, two people who love one another must come together and get married. During their married life, they can opt to get children and starts a nuclear family, or they can opt not to have a child and rely on extended family ( Darwin, 2017) . Even though family brings happiness, there are instances where people within the family fight to love, and also the married couple's fight to makeup and others fights to break up leading to divorce. The foundation that the couple set determines if they will live together for the rest of their lives, or they will live to desire the fact that they did not meet one another. This essay will discuss the contribution of Charles Darwin on the issue of marriage and family.
Charles Darwin was known to have come up with theories relating to plants. In his studies, he brought the aspect of how inbreeding can negatively affect the outcome. Despite this, Charles Darwin went ahead and married his first cousin. With his wife, they were blessed with ten kids. From a religious perspective, whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and all this that happens takes place with God's love ( Álvarez, Ceballos & Berra, 2015). Therefore, his wife, who was his first cousin was the choice God aspired him take and with the favor of God, they were blessed with ten children. During those ancient times, marrying cousin was a common thing. It was described as a way of protecting one’s culture or keeping things within the family ( Darwin, 2017). The act was practiced more by the aristocrats and the royalties. Even though it was the right thing at that particular time, nowadays marrying a cousin is a taboo. One risks being disowned by society because it is morally wrong to marry a family member.

Further, during these eras, a marriage which is the foundation of a family was a business idea between the in-laws. A teenager could have married a person bot because they love them but because their guardians or parents want to get something in return. The same act is repeated in the current era but in a different way. That is, people get married to other people not because they love them, but because they have something they want ( Low, 2016).
In summary, taking into consideration the theory of inbreeding, people who are family or people share same genes are not supposed to intermarry or interbreed because the outcome is cursed. Charles Darwin’s marriage to his first cousin caused illnesses to their children who were ever sick, and instead of having a happy marriage and a happy family, they suffered and fought for the health of their kids. Thus, having a happy marriage and happy family requires building a strong love foundation that is not attached to any internal genetic relationship, but on an external relationship which will bring people who love one another comes together to strengthen their love.
