For this assignment, I interviewed Lina Roberts who works as a medical social worker at the Vanderbilt Children's hospital. Roberts is a degree holder who has primary responsibilities including adolescent medicinal specialties and children specifically on infections related to children. She is also involved in family and individual therapy. The population that she serves mainly consists of residents including the children and young adults. The interview was conducted at the Vanderbilt hospital during noon and was done through a face to face mode of interview. The interview lasted for one hour in which I was able to gain useful information. This paper is, therefore, an analysis of the interview conducted on Lina Roberts.
One of the child welfare areas that Lina is involved in is children's health. She has the responsibility of ensuring that children are safe from infectious diseases and other health hazards. Professional ethics, morals and standards and conducts impacts her daily day-to-day work. It is through these, that quality health services are rendered to both adults and children (Pecora et al., 2017). As stated by the interviewee, there are several pros and cons of the field she currently works in. The advantages include; working with different people and helping them, being part of physicians in a major healthcare organization and the exposure that comes along with working at the center. She has met a lot of chronic patients which she claims have taught her a lot. The cons, on the other hand, include watching kids die, family suffering and lack of support or cooperation from family members when doctors want to take a course of action on a child that is set to impact his\her life but is essential health wise.

With her knowledge, skills and values Lina is not only able to intervene in children's health issues but also advocate for their health based on legal terms and therapy sessions. Her long-term experience at the facility also makes her very effective in defending children's welfare. Challenges, however, include poor and limited facilities that are fostered towards the care of children and staying within her area of jurisdiction without going overboard. Based on this, social, political and factors can be assessed to be the main factors affecting her role in children welfare (Landsverk, 2017). Lack of funds and facilities is an economic challenge; politicizing provision of resources for children's well-being is a political factor while inadequate societal support is a social factor. Lina Roberts further states that the most pressing issues facing children, families, and society today include sex trafficking, unsafe information and wrong use of technology.
The most significant challenges in her work environment are limited resources and the fading away of societal philanthropy. The feeling that comes along with meeting people in times of crisis, giving them support, helping them achieve their goals, garnering support to help shoulder their burden and growing together with such people are what she claims to be the most rewarding things about the work that she does. According to her, the only way to make the child welfare more responsive to the needs of children, workers and families is through proper budgeting and funding to increase resources and facilities for these groups. I learnt many things from the interview. I now have a new approach to interacting with people and have acknowledged the fact that societal change starts with me. I am going to use my education and any other resource that I have to make my environment including children's welfare better.
