Jesus came on earth to teach about God desires and to save the humankind from the evil spirit through crucifixion and death on the cross. Jesus taught the people about how to live a Godly life so that we can be fruitful. The Sermon on the mountain is a combination of teachings of how to make a good life and to avoid the evil spirit by all means. Jesus had the authority to cast out the sins (Keener, 2014).

What was Jesus’ point in the teaching?
Matthew chapter 7 contains the last teachings of Sermon on the Mount. The chapters include warning that his followers should be wary of. From Verse 15, Jesus tells people to be cautious about false prophets who come to them in sheep clothing but are wolves by nature (Matthew 7: 15, NTL). Jesus warns that not everyone who calls his name here on earth or cast evil spirits by his name will see the doors of heavens. His warning was against the hypocrisy that people show here on earth that it will be against them during the Day of Judgment (Matthew 7: 23, NTL). Jesus will denounce those who live in hypocrisy.
What sort of relevance does this teaching have for other worldviews?
The teaching from Matt 7: 15-23 is relevant in other worldviews. Jesus wanted people to be cautious about false prophets that will come to the people with promises but will be doing it for personal gains. According to Jesus, nothing good comes easy and his followers will have to persevere hardship for them to bear good fruits. People who will not head to the world will be cast out, the same way a tree that does not bear fruits is cut and cast into the fire. Therefore the world will know the good and the bad people by the fruits that they bear (Keener, 2014). In the world today, have seen false prophets who claim to heal and prophecy in the name of Christ but all they want is to benefits from the followers of Christ.
What does this teaching reveal about Jesus?
The teaching reveals that Jesus knows about human nature and that His name is powerful. Jesus knows that human can be good or bad. Jesus knew that people will use his name in vain to attract believers just to deceive them in His name. The teaching also reveals that Jesus was God and heaven is his home. He says that he will denounce the hypocrites and cast them into the fire (Matthew 7: 21-23, NTL). Jesus knew that he had the authority from God. It also reveals that Jesus was God because he says he would deny those who used his name in Vein for their personal gains. It means that Jesus would be there during the day of Judgment.
Identify at least one claim that Jesus made about his nature and/or the purpose of his ministry (such as in Matthew 9:1-8 ; Matt 9:9-13; Luke 7:18-23; John 5:16-18; John 10:25-38; or John 14:5-11). Underline the passage chosen. What is the significance of this claim?
Jesus made a claim that “The son of man has the authority on earth to forgive sins (Matthew 9: 6).” Jesus claims meant that he was not like the earthly people and he had the authority of his Father. He would forgive sins and help those who were disabled physically, and spiritually. Through his name, people would be able to cast out sins and evil spirits. The claim also means that Jesus was unlike other Prophets who had to do everything else but could not forgive the sins. It also means that Jesus was God or part of the Trinity (Lachs, 1987). Besides being a son of God, Jesus had the same authority as His Father.
How would you personally answer Jesus’ question, “But who do you say that I am?” (Mark 8:29 ESV). Describe your own beliefs about Jesus.
I would answer Jesus that he was the great prophet of God like Elijah. The reason for this was the fact that Jesus was acting like most other prophets who were healing the sick and speaking the word of God to the whole world. Jesus had the authority of God like the prophets of the Old Testament. He would cast out the evil spirits, made the cripples walk, made the blind see and heal the sick and provide to those who lacked. He performed miracles which were also a character that the prophets of God had exhibited. Besides claiming that He was the son of God, Jesus was like the other Prophets of the Old Testament (Lachs, 1987). However, at the end of his ministry, Jesus proved that he was more than all the other prophets by overcoming death and also his ability to forgive sins.
Reading about Jesus both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament has helped me develop various beliefs about Him. I believe that Jesus was the Son of God (Keener, 2014). Jesus said that he is the son of his Father and His Father was in heaven. I believe that He was the Messiah and he came to earth to liberate those with burdens and sins. Jesus also died for the sinners on the cross so that those who believed in him would be saved from the sins that were committed by Adam from the beginning. I believe that Jesus had the authority to overcome death. Jesus resurrected from the dead which meant that he defeated death and rose to be with his father. I believe Jesus is part of the Trinity. Jesus is part of the holy trinity which is made of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit (Lachs, 1987).
