In the improvement of the population health, health promotion, as well as prevention of the diseases are necessary at the individual and population levels. These are important aspects or components of baccalaureate generalist nursing practice. In the complex 21st-century care delivery, patients tend to experience changes in their concerns associated with relativism. Nurses need to use their platforms to optimize evidence-based practices in the achievement of the set goals reflected in the improved health care outcome, health promotion, and disease prevention at different levels (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019). For example, other than creating awareness of these elements in the society, it is ideal for the nurses to engage in the practices such as immunization and other efforts aimed at preventing diseases at the individual and population levels. In my nursing program, I had the chance to optimize this essential through creating room for enhanced assessment of the records and profiling of such components for ease in the identification of the predictive factors. Moreover, I used the chance to engage in health literacy through teaching and counseling different patients in a safe and collaborative environment.

Following the above illustration, I met the following outcomes:

I focused on the utilization of the behavioral transformation approaches to liaise with the patients in the promotion of health and management of illness as identified in the fourth outcome.

I also used evidence-based practices in facilitating health literacy and counseling, as well as following-up on the practices by the patients across the lifespan, as illustrated in the fifth outcome.

Essential VIII:  Professionalism and Professional Values

In this essential, the main aspect is on the identification and illustration of the fundamental values associated with success in the nursing profession. Other than the enormous implications of professionalism, nurses must practice or execute their roles while optimizing the inherent values of autonomy, integrity, human dignity, social justice, and altruism. In addressing the needs of the challenging health care sector in the modern society, it is appropriate to highlight these values in creating personalized and professional care environment in the improvement of the healthcare outcomes (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019). In my nursing program, I have had the chance of facilitating treatment of all patients with the required dignity regardless of the diversities in age, gender, or national backgrounds, among others.

Following this essential, I have had the chance to highlight and meet some of the outcomes as reflected below:

First, in my practice, I have been accountable for the personal, as well as professional behaviors, as indicated in the second outcome.

Additionally, I have been professional while focusing on the promotion of human dignity through liaising with the patients and their families in the professional context to maximize health outcomes evident in the fourth outcome.

Essential IX:  Baccalaureate Generalist Nursing Practice

In the challenging healthcare context, there is more demand for BSN-prepared nurses to help improve the quality of health care delivery in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Notably, baccalaureate graduate nurses have the right skills and tools to liaise with the patients, families, communities, and the entire population in the creation of quality environments for the delivery of the personalized and professional care (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019). This is through depicting quality understanding and respecting of the relativism in care associated with increased complexity, as well as the growing influence of the healthcare resources in the realization of the desired patient care. In my nursing program, I have used the chance and available resources to liaise with the patients and their families in pursuit of optimal outcomes of the evidence-based practices for the behavioral change.

Critically, in these practices, I have met the following outcomes:

I have used the skills to communicate or interact with the diverse members of the healthcare team while also liaising with the support network of the patient to achieve optimal healthcare outcome as identified in the fourth outcome.

In respecting the preferences of the patients and their families, I have had the chance to deliver personalized, compassionate, and evidence-based care, as highlighted in the firth outcome.
