Health care professionals and Nurses play an integral role in the healthcare industry, providing care to patients and filling leadership roles in health systems. But being a healthcare provider or a nurse is not without its challenges. It's a demanding profession that requires a lot of dedication and commitment. I was recently in a certain organization for my practicum, and I noticed a number of issues that the organization is facing. Some of these issues include:
Work overload . One of the major challenges that the organization is experiencing is a shortage of providers that results in a major workload. We would find ourselves in a situation where one nurse was supposed to tend to and keep records of more than ten patients at the same time. For this reason, the nurses were always exhausted and this resulted in a major decline in the quality of work delivered. As a result, you would find a nurse getting rude when to their patients due to fatigue.

Poor organizational culture . I also realized that there was a very poor organization and management system in the organization. For instance, the work schedules were very inflexible, making it possible for the nurses to plan their duty roosters. There are times when you could find that there were excess nurses on duty while other times they were barely enough. This challenge of the poor organizational structure comes with another challenge of low motivation and poor working relations. The organization has not invested in a mentoring program for the staff members. This fact, coupled with the frustration of the workers, has resulted in poor working relations. A lot of nurses have already quit the organization because of this fact. I was also very happy to finish my practicum because the challenges were already too overwhelming.
