Code of conduct plays an important role in any organization because it provides guidance and reference for workers, especially their behaviors and decision-making process. SEPPIC is one of the companies that have a comprehensive code of conduct that guides the actions and decision of employees. It is a France based firm that mainly deals in chemical products that are aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of people. One of the main elements of SEPPIC’s code of conduct is prevention for conflict of interests (SEPPIC, 2019). According to SEPPIC’s code of conduct, employees are required to commit in ensuring that they avoid any situation that may be associated with conflict of interest, especially personal interests and those of the company (SEPPIC, 2019). To achieve this objective, employees are required to avoid conflict of interests with suppliers, competitors, and customers. At the same time, employees are required to respect rules of corruption, do not misuse payment and gifts, and protect all SEPPIC activities.
Project management is one of the areas that are associated with a lot of conflict of interests. Conflict of interests is more likely to be witnessed in projects that involve a lot of money than those that are less costly. For instance, project manager of a construction project put his interests above that of the project. The project manager can also use his power to make decisions on his favor. Therefore, the construction project manager should commit to avoid any situation that can involve a conflict of interests. Conflict of interests is one of the main elements of the code of conduct that are practiced by many organizations (SEPPIC, 2019).

Topic 2: My Experience with Code of Conduct
The organization that I have been part of at some point is Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola is the leading carbonated soft drink company that is found in almost all parts of the world. Coca-Cola brands are known in all corners of the globe. The company is having one of the most comprehensive codes of conduct that guided the action of its employees. The written code of conduct is aimed at ensuring that behavior and action of its employees are consistent with its values (The Coca-Cola Company, 2018). Coca-Cola conducts detailed training in making sure that its employees have a clear understanding of its code of conduct. The company’s HR departments across the globe collaborate with Coca-Cola University to train its employees on the core elements of its code of conduct. The training is mainly based on core elements such as integrity, honesty, accountability, and compliance with the law.
The company’s management team mainly uses handbooks to communicate the content and elements of a code of conduct to employees. The management ensures that every new employee in the company received a code of conduct handbook that his or her behaviors, actions and decisions (The Coca-Cola Company, 2018). The revised code of conduct handbook is distributed to all employees whenever there is a change in the elements or content. However, the organization’s management can improve how it communicates the content and element the code of conduct to improve its effectiveness. Specifically, the organization should organize meetings or conference where employees are adequately informed and trained in the elements of the code of conduct. Seminars can help the company’s employees to understand and internalize the code of conduct, leading to an increase in compliance rate.
