I believe that the developed code serves essential purposes in ensuring that all stakeholders in nursing education take necessary steps that will enhance test taking in the United States for nursing professionals, students, and practitioners. After reading the document, which I did not know that existed, it is explicit that developing a code ensures that fairness is practiced by all stakeholders and each test taker is given an equal opportunity. As stated by the authors and developers of the code, keen test standardization and administration conditions ensure that all takers of tests have similar opportunity to demonstrate what they understand and their performance in the evaluated areas (Joint Committee on Testing Practices, 2004).

The code applies to nursing education because accreditation is a critical component of the registration process for a nurse practitioner. Imperatively, one cannot become a registered nurse (RN) without passing the accreditation exams so that their abilities to perform and their level of knowledge can be assessed (Cizek et al., 2015) . Further, nurses take exams at each stage of their professional and career development and having a level playground ensures that all nurses have equal opportunity to qualify and be registered. Therefore, the code of fair practices applies to nursing education just like in other parts of education system.

The code has been in existence for over ten years but I believe that it is still relevant today. The principles outlined in the code are still effective for both test takers, givers, and those who mark these tests. The implication is that tests are formulated and given based on certain guidelines so that they instill a fair playing ground for all people taking similar examinations (National League for Nursing, 2012) . While there are changes in many sectors, especially in nursing and nursing education, the code is still relevant but may require review to capture these changes.
