In any community-based health promotion drive such as a targeted health education program, building professional relationships can be the determinant for success or failure. In essence building any relationship is a time-consuming endeavor but once natured effectively, the collaboration can lead to efficient role out of any program. As such in designing an educational project targeting a homeless shelter, it is crucial that all stakeholders aim to cultivate a professional partnership to ensure the program’s success. Consequently, using strategies such as sharing clearly defined goals, willingness to learn from each other, respect and trust, the project will seek to create a lasting professional partnership with all stakeholders at the homeless shelter. 

One of the key drivers of building effective professional relationships is establishing clear goals and ensuring the team members are working together towards a shared vision. Each stakeholder will be required to utilize their unique area of training or expertise to contribute positively to the common agenda. As such, each stakeholder must trust and respect the other in appreciation of each member’s contribution. It is expected that different team members will have different viewpoints regarding health education. Subsequently, team members must be ready to learn from each other through open and effective communication. 

One of the major stakeholders the program will seek to build a relationship with is other healthcare professionals specifically the nurses. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals will ensure that the education program acquires the necessary commitment from the human resource that will be utilized. Such commitment will ensure the process of mobilizing resources will be easier and more effective. Additionally, the multi-disciplinary approach will improve the outcomes of the educational program since the professionals can come together share ideas and work together to achieve the same goal.
