A community public health nursing officer ought to identify the issue plaguing their community prior to fashioning a program that is meant to aid the population. There are 8 principles of public health nursing which include them centering on the society, ascertaining that they grant precedence to the wants of the public and working in affiliation with the populous to alleviate their issues (Kimberly, 2018). Community public health nurses also need to hub primal prevention through the endorsement of healthy surroundings while targeting all the individuals in the community who might profit from the program. The community nurse also needs to ensure that they promote optimum allocation of resources to the community and they can fulfill this only through being collaborative with the society in which they are offering their services in (Kimberly, 2018).
It is not always easy for them to adhere and uphold these principles, especially when dealing with special groups such as the homeless individuals in a society. The greatest challenge that a community nurse will face while working with the homeless will be attributed to their they lack a permanent residence. Since a nurse needs to work in association with the target population, it may prove hard to keep up with the homeless as there is always a chance that one might not find them the next day which also strains the nurses’ ability to promote optimal allocation of resources (Kimberly, 2018). Promotion of healthy surroundings can also prove to be a tricky situation seeing that they tend to move about. Finally, the community also has the notion that the homeless can be violent and dangerous thus the neighbors might not be so willing to helping the C/PHN thereby making their work harder and obstructing the nurses from keeping to their principles.
