The term community in public healthcare refers to the collective efforts of individuals and organizations to promote health among a culturally or geographically defined group. From that perspective, it can be deduced that community health involves multi-disciplinary and multi-sector collaborative engagement and evidence-based healthcare delivery strategies are integrated. On the other hand, population health manages health for a specific group of people using outcome-driven approaches ( Clark, 2015) . When managing population health, public nurses use interventions that measure health status indicators such as high blood pressure and cholesterol to provide insights on the best methods to prevent diseases in the future.

Nurses are seen as leaders in the public eye because they possess leadership qualities such as advocates for quality care, articulate communication, collaboration, and risk-taking. Nurses are also perceived as mentors and role models. Many people count on nurses to be supportive and caring when in the hospital setting. They take courage, knowing that nurses, as leaders will make tough decisions and that they always take the best course of action irrespective of the demands of the situation. Nurses also demonstrate their leadership capabilities through their ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and the community at large ( Taylor & Webster-Henderson, 2017) . Moreover, they show leadership through shared responsibility that enables them to act as a link between patients and physicians.
