The use of fines is one of the best practices that most nations are employing to cut the number of inmates in prison and the cost of running the prisons. It is argued that the United States justice department spend more money per year that it brings in. The use of fines would be beneficial to the United States in several aspects.

Consequently, fines would generate revenues for the government. Petty offenses most of the time lead to sentencing for some time may be one month to four months. Such sentencing can be turned to fine, and the government gains on both side. The cost of the running the prison would go down, and on the other hand, the government would get revenue.

Additionally, looking at how Germany has perfected the use of the day fines mainly in traffic offenses. It is worthy of stating that the united states should adopt the same in pretty crimes. The day fines reduce the number of cases at the court as most of the offenses are solved immediately. Furthermore, this will translate to reduce the workforce at the court meaning the court will save more due to decreased salaries and employees.

To sum up, the fine policy is a better option for the united states as it would go a long way in reducing the number of inmates in prison. Further, the government would get revenue for the government and the judicial system would have to cut down the number of employees.
