The Bariatric surgery is proven the most effective measure to reduce weight loss than other measures like medications and lifestyle interventions. The various bariatric procedure often applied are the Roux-en-Y (RYGB) and Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG). The purpose of this research paper is to evaluate whether the SG causes fewer complications to patients post-procedure compared to the complications caused by the RYGB procedure (“Bariatric Surgical Procedures for Obese and Morbidly Obese Patients”, 2018). RYGB procedure involves the restriction of patients’ stomach size. This procedure aims at making the gastric pouch smaller. The pouch is attached to the mid-jejunum thus causing a malabsorption of the food. On the other hand, SG procedure involves the removal of greater funds and stomach’s curvature. Thus, the SG procedure objects at limiting the size of the belly and thus restricting the intake of the food. Both procedures have associated benefits and risks, although their weights vary.

Thereby, this research aims at measuring the weights of the risks associated with the two procedures. The research’s population would be the patients diagnosed with obesity. Obesity is a highly spreading epidemic all over the globe (World Health Organization”, 200). The disease has caused more deaths and morbidity throughout the United States (“Bariatric Surgical Procedures for Obese and Morbidly Obese Patients", 2018). To reduce the complications, the patients undergo the aforementioned surgical operations, that is, the SG and RYGB among others. The procedures are aimed at reducing the weights of the patients and prevent the co-morbidity associated with the disease. These surgical methods have various pros and cons. The research report indicates and provides evidence on whether the complications of the RYGP procedure are more than the SG procedure post complications.

Understanding the weights of the complications is essential in treating and proposing medical operations to the obesity patients (“World Health Organization”, 2000). This is because the research measures and reports the effectiveness and safety of the two procedures. This provides the medical practitioners and the obesity patients with justified information concerning the procedures they are willing to undergo. This makes them aware of the expected complications, making them approve the most appropriate procedure for them. Moreover, the research report evaluates and represents the cost-effectiveness of the two obesity procedures. This enables the patients to identify the procedure they are more likely to afford. The research as well equips one with knowledge regarding the procedures’ evidence-based guidelines. This enables the obese patients to understand the details of the procedures they are proposed to undertake. As well, the nurses and medical practitioners are made to understand the generally accepted guidelines in partaking such procedures.

The research paper is aimed at reporting on the effectiveness and risks associated with the RYGB and SG procedures. It is claimed that the SG procedure has fewer complications compared to the RYGB procedure, for the patients diagnosed with obesity (“World Health Organization”, 2000). Therefore, this research aims at collecting data to prove or disapprove the claim. Hereby, various patients who have undergone their procedures would be evaluated. The research paper would then compare the post-procedure complications of both procedures. Therefore, the most effective and risky procedure would be identified. The evidence collected would help in clarifying the concern. The research would be detailed and informative and would enable patients and nurses to beware of the implications.

Moreover, the research paper identifies the methods used to conduct the research and classify the findings. This would help clarify the question at hand. The various methodologies applied would include a questionnaire, questionnaire and case study. The research paper reports the findings of these research methodologies and the limitations associated with each of them. The paper would as well compare the collected primary data with the secondary data concerning the research topic. Such secondary data would include scholarly articles and books (Schmidt, 2017). In addition, the various search engines and electronic databases like PubMed and Medline. Moreover, the research paper would conclude on the research topic, based on the collected information and findings. The conclusion would incorporate both the primary data and secondary data collection. In addition, the research paper gives evidence-based recommendations on how both procedures complications would be limited. This would ensure procedures that are more effective for the obesity patients, improving their procedures’ awareness. The research paper as well outlines the limitations and strength of the undertaken research.

This section of the draft outlines the evidence-based practices (EBP) associated with the research (Schmidt, 2017). Hereby, the PICO strategy would be applied. The PICO strategy outlines the patients or population of interest, the intervention, comparison and the outcomes presumed in the scope of the research. First, the research’s population is the patients dragonized with obesity (“World Health Organization”, 2000). Hereby, the research identifies and reports on the post-procedure complications these patients undergo. The more risky procedure between the RYGB and SG would be identified. Thereby, the research answers the question of whether the SG procedure is less risky than the RYGB procedure. Secondly, the intervention of this research is the sleeve gastrectomy. Third, the research compares the gastric sleeve surgery to the gastric bypass surgery. Lastly, the desired outcome of the research is to identify the fewer complications post the procedures. The research is aimed to be carried out in 21 days.
