The Office of the Inspector General puts in place a series of various voluntary compliance program directive documents for various areas of the healthcare sector such as hospitals. These documents inspire the creation and utilization of internal controls to monitor the discipline to the existing status, rules and regulations and the requirements of the program. The work plan puts in order the several projects to be addressed during the financial year by the Office of the Audit Services, Office of Evaluation and Inspections, Office of Counsel to the Inspector General and lastly Office of Investigation (Harman, 2013). The Office of the Inspector General covers the integrity of Health and Human Services and the activities conducted there as well as those who benefit from it.

Projects planned in each department of the major organizations are included in the work plan. These major organizations include the Public Health Agencies, the Administration for aging and the Centre for Medicare and Medicaid Services. More so, the work plan contains information on the projects that relate to the issues that affect the departmental programs such as the important areas in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The office identifies and prevents ill traits such as abuse and finds ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the program economy. However, the Office of the Inspector General does not give out additional information on the conditions of the jobs present in the work plan.

The Office of the Inspector General works by administering an overlook that supports the economy, the proper functioning of the programs and the activities conducted by the Human and Health Services. The activities conducted by the office are guided by the professional standards that are put in place by the Government Accountability Office, the Inspector General Community and the Department of Justice. The office carries out national audits, surveys, and evaluations as well as educational outreach and compliance.

In relation to hospitals, there are ten top management and performance problems that are facing the Human and Health Services. The first one is the effective administration of the program to address the overpriced improper payments. The second one is to Ensure Program Integrity of the sections in the Medicare. The third problem relates to ensuring secure and proper use of the electronic information (Harman, 2013). The fourth challenge is improving the administration and the management of the finances. The fifth one is preventing the abuse and misuse of both the controlled and non-controlled medication.

Ensuring correct distribution of grants for the Health and Human Services is the sixth challenge pointed out. Furthermore, ensuring the maximum care and safety for the vulnerable individuals is put as the seventh challenge. The eighth problem involves overseeing the operations conducted in the Health Insurance Markets. The ninth problem is the administration of the Delivery System Reform and putting efforts on the Medicare advantage. Lastly, the issue of the safety of food, drugs and the clinical appliances is also a major challenge (Harman, 2013). The challenges affect the critical responsibility of the Health and Human Services whose major mandate is to ensure the safety and efficient health of the public.

In conclusion, the Office of the Inspector General covers a wide range of issues regarding compliance within the health sector. The planned work addresses up to the relating financial statements, accounting, and the information systems management. Its future activities include the general examination of the Health and Human Services’ efforts to reduce misuse of the resources. Furthermore, the office ensures meaningful and efficient use of electronic information and information technology which is relied greatly upon by the health sector. The major reliance is attributed to the changing trends within hospitals.
