In modern society conflict in the workplace is considered to be a norm as it takes place from day to day. Conflict has many cons, among them; it lowers the morale of workers, consequently decreasing productivity. Productivity is reduced in the sense that friction causes disagreement and hatred and this heightens the negativity levels in the workplace. The workplace is comprised of individuals with different characters and different way of doing things as such conflict will arise from time to time. Conflict in the workplace can take place between employees of different or similar seniority levels that is it can take place between two or more junior employees or between employees and their bosses.
Recently, I observed employees having disagreements with their managers in the workplace due to poor channels of communication and poor communication skills. The employees often complained about how their managers failed in listening to their suggestion and woes. They further claimed that their superiors ignored their wishes. Managers, on the other hand, claimed the employees were rude and did not communicate their preferences as they ought to.

It is evident that there is a problem in the above scenario. One solution to the above issue is the establishment of proper communication channels. Both employees and managers should come up with feedback and feed-forward mechanisms in which they can share ideas, therefore, work efficiently. For example, the use of a suggestion box and weekly emails so that managers can work through the problems their employees are facing. Another viable remedy is to schedule weekly emails so that both managers and employees can air out their work-related issues. If these steps are followed, there will be minimal squabbles between top-level management and junior officers.
