My opinion or perception of the criminal justice system has experienced a vital change over the past decades. Initially, I supposed the national criminal justice serves to prevent criminal operations in a state through an extended jail sentence. Initially, I considered a punitive strategy such as police enforcement and punishment through extended and strict jail sentence in ensuring effective criminal justice in the country. Currently, I prefer a more progressive strategy, such as rehabilitation and crime prevention, to help in promoting sufficient justice in a state. Prioritizing rehabilitation of prisoners helps in preventing the perpetuation of criminal activities in a country. Crime prevention entails engaging offenders in youth programs and education, whereas rehabilitation encompasses job training and education of prisoners (Kelly & Pitman, 2018). Rehabilitation through job training and education equipped prisoners with the necessary tools to prevent their engagement in criminal operations after serving a jail sentence. Consequently, re-entry programs and rehabilitation of prisoners, as opposed to incapacitation, helps in ensuring the safety of the public.
Social justice encompasses empowerment, equality, and fairness between government and people in a state. Additionally, social justice promotes the provision of equal access and opportunity in acquiring and utilizing resources in a country. Criminal justice refers to government practices and institutional systems that uphold social mitigation, regulation, and prevent crime or sanctions criminal punishment and rehabilitate offenders of laws (Gray, 2018). Criminal justice ensures justice in society by convicting and punishing offenders for promoting public safety.

Though social justice and criminal justice are distinct, they are significant aspects in promoting public safety. Criminal justice act as a subsection of social justice necessary for preventing and restoring violation of fairness by national criminal laws. Large societies have diverse behaviors, cultures, and religions (Gray, 2018). Criminal and social justice assist in establishing effective regulation of unjust and violent actions that threaten the moral values of society.
