The selected article was published on 21st June 2018 by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) and dealt with the over-consumption of sodium and the potential vote by Philadelphia City Council to give customers of chain restaurants critical information they need concerning the food they are buying to enable them to make informed decisions to protect their health (Caron, 2018). The article stated the introduction of new warnings on high sodium consumption is bound to change customer preference which in turn will affect the restaurant industry. A change in consumption patterns of a product automatically affects the production and supply of the commodity. Therefore, the new labeling of warnings on menus will persuade restaurants and other food joints to provide healthier and nutritionally improved items. Similarly, customers will be aware of what they are consuming and can choose healthier alternatives.

The article will persuade the restaurant industry to change because they will be willing to select healthier diets because customers will be unwilling to purchase food items that have a significant effect on their health. The issue raised is justified since the industry will strive to ensure that they sell healthy foods that have sodium content below the maximum level. The restaurant industry should change in order to promote healthy living and consumption of foods that do not harm the consumer.
