Take from the movies
In the first video of Gordon (2009), the main take is that there are challenges in achieving universal ethics and approach to social responsibility. There are chances that nationalism may not allow nations to adopt an effective global approach to ethics. Gordon notes that regions like Africa have a feeling that developed world is disinterested to its challenges even though there are shared values such as democracy in Africa. The author suggests that all the countries have the responsibility to face challenges facing humanity including climate change.
In the second video by Gooch (2013), the key point delivered is that corruption is interwoven in the global structure of exploiting natural resources. People attached to leaders in poor countries end up acquiring a lot of assets and wealth through corruption.

China
As at the end of 2016, the population in china was 1.379 billion people. The country’s gross domestic product was 11.2 trillion US dollars in 2016, indicating the high level of economic viability of the country as an investment destination. The country shares its border with 16 countries in Asia. The country is located in Asia as indicated in the map below
China culture and business practices
China society coexists in a communal culture. In china, the interests of the community supersede that of the individual. The country’s culture thus differs significantly from the culture of other countries including the United States of America where individualism, rather than communalism prevails. Unlike in western countries where business operations are based on clear contracts, contracts are poorly enforced in China with informal agreements prevailing in the country. As a result, it would be difficult to come up with a global culture as indicated in the videos presented in this study where patriotism and nationalism hinders the establishment of a single social cultural system across the world.
Ethical issue
The issue
In December 2016, it was realized that a company that makes outfits used by Ivanka Trump fashion line was exploiting employees. The organization was accused of violating labor laws by the retail industry watchdog. The workers earned 62 dollars for working nearly to 60 hours a week. The Fair Labor Association officers who visited the organization indicated that 80 of the workers makes clothes for contractor G-III, an apparel group involved in the distribution of Ivanka Trump clothes line. The employees worked up to 82 overtime hours each month in order to meet targets (Independent, 2017).
Management reaction
In response to the issue, the organization, upon receiving the findings pledged to make progress in training employees as well as in reducing their exposure to hazards. The management equally indicated its commitment to reduce the overtime hour’s nut made no commitment to increase wages (Independent, 2017).
Addressing of the Issue
As a business manager, it was important to ensure that the ethics of common good are followed in the organization. As an international business manager, it was important to ensure that the working conditions of employees are enhanced, overtime hours reduced and wages increased to reasonable levels. According to the ethics of duty, the organization has the duty to take care of all of its significant stakeholders including employees.
Overall impact on global business environment
The scenario indicates that in the global business environment, while the interests of some stakeholders are met, the interest of others is abused. As indicated in the above case, while Chinese employees are exploited, the buyers of the products in the US end up benefiting from high quality products. It indicates a global imbalance between nations when it comes to taking care of the interests of the involved party. Based on the presentation, it is evident that attainment of uniform global business culture remains a mirage.
