Cultural diversity is a reality that is being appreciated all over the world since the world is becoming a global village where people from all backgrounds are coming together as they work or interact. Globalization is the act or process of something, a business or an institution or a service developing international status whereby it can be accessed universally. Globalization drives cultural diversity since it has increased the interactions among people and institutions. Regarding healthcare, globalization is enabling health professionals’ work in other countries as well as patients from different nations, especially third world country access treatment in developed nations. This has resulted to increase in the spreading of some diseases such as Ebola due to easy access of health services on any part of the world. At the same time, globalization has allowed increased research on diseases, and this has improved the quality of healthcare in the world. 

Being culturally competent is viewed as the ability and willpower to understand and tolerate cultural diversity and being able to respect the cultures of the people amongst us. Cultural competence enables us to appreciate diversity and work effectively with people from different cultures while ensuring that they access equal growing opportunities since we have a positive attitude towards their culture and lifestyles ("What does it mean to be culturally competent?", 2018) . In healthcare, it entails providing services that meet the cultural needs of all patients within a certain locality. This helps improve healthcare while eliminating cultural biases that may affect the quality of health.

A global society encompasses people from different parts of the modern world who have come together as a result of globalization. Global citizens are driven to live together by a common goal of seeing the world become a better place since they work towards the common good of the whole world and not just the nation they come from. Some of the responsibilities of global citizens include the duty to solve world problems and the responsibility to fight disease and poverty. Solving world problems entails being part of the teams that encourage innovation and research on issues affecting the world and giving input on the same. The responsibility to fight disease and poverty entails being able to promote international standards of healthcare in their countries and the world at large by ensuring every human being accesses quality healthcare. 

The obligations of global citizens materialize in healthcare since healthcare leaders, and practitioners are expected to conform their practices to the transforming world. Healthcare leaders should be able to notice the health issues affecting the world and develop ways to combat them in their countries and then extend the same to the extended world. Such problems include cancer, malaria and cardiovascular diseases. They can give their input on such issues by emphasizing on their respective governments to treat the issues as part of the foreign policy to enable them to join other nations in dealing with such health problems. 

Every healthcare leader and organization must adapt to the needs of the world at all times for it to remain relevant and effective. Healthcare leaders can prepare themselves to deal with challenges in healthcare by understanding how other industries that have undergone globalization work. Most industries have succeeded in globalization by being persistent and willing in what they do and this is a practice that can be effected in modern healthcare. It is important since dealing with different cultures across the world calls for the willingness to understand what each has to offer and being able to persist especially when dealing with conservative cultures (Scott, 2010) . Therefore, persistence and willingness are qualities that healthcare leaders should instill in themselves and their teams to facilitate the provision of quality healthcare worldwide. 

Global healthcare leaders can also prepare themselves for cultural changes by being able to exercise compassion and sensitivity. This is necessary since some of the issues going on in other nations may not be the same health issues another may be dealing with. Understanding and being sensitive to such issues is necessary since it enables the health practitioners to give treatment in an open mind and with the heart to stop the suffering that people may be undergoing (Scott, 2010) . Therefore, sensitivity and compassion promote genuineness when dealing with various health issues and even when dealing with issues that may be affecting the healthcare teams.
