The traumatic event of focus in this work is cyber bullying. The recent past has seen increased cases of victimization of children through cyber bullying. In this context, children have access to Internet and linked to different social media platforms. These platforms have bullies who target the online audiences by using tools such as email, social media chats, and online text messages to humiliate and threaten others. Children and teens have been key victims of this form of bullying that has been proven to lead to trauma among the targeted children (Furness, 2019). The trauma that comes from cyber bullying happens as result of the threats and resultant images used to threaten and cause fear and anxiety among children
The two symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) commonly seen with this type of trauma include anger/sadness, and frustration. A good percentage of children who cannot manage these PTSD symptoms have even gone ahead to commit suicide. First, the feeling of anger and sadness is caused by the fact that the children did not expect or were not prepared to meet such kind of encounters from the cyber bullies. The children would be angered by the fact that such persons would deliberately target to threaten their life using the platforms that they considered safe. On the other PSTD related to frustration, it is critical to note that most of the children who are cyber bullied feel that they needed to do something to deal with the bullies (Steffgen, 2013). They also feel they had the powers and ability to identify where the harmful online behavior is coming from, which is impossible. When unable to identify the source of bullying, they get frustrated.

Conclusively, one of the ways I may be affected when working with children or adolescents who have experienced this traumatic event is when it comes to teaching and use of tone and language. Use of harsh language and tone while attending to the children who have gone through this may affect the children’s ability to learn. They may associate that with the experience they went through.
