Security in the US depends on reliable access to information. Technology empowers the US Military by providing access to information that enables the Military to gain tactical advantages such as the ability to strike at long distances. These technological advantages are crucial to maintaining the superiority of the US Military. However, technological advancements have created challenges for the Military. The concerns of cybersecurity for the Military are mainly brought about by the decentralized and open nature of the internet.

There have been increased cases of various entities using cyberspace to attack the US and her allies. Owing to the prowess of the US Military in armed conflict, these entities choose to use the cyberspace as an alternative field of engagement. The cyberspace challenges faced by the US Military include attempts to steal US technologies, threats to critical infrastructure, and disruptions of businesses and government operations, among others. Therefore, there is a need to prevent the occurrence of these threats and attempts by creating cybersecurity awareness in the US Military.
Research Methodology
This study utilizes qualitative analysis by comparing current and recent organizational arrangements and federal policies to establish whether the US can handle large-scale cyber-attacks similar to 9/11. First, a literature study is done to seek the available information on this topic. This literature study also includes online research by institutions that specialize in cybersecurity. Also, semi-structured interviews with experts related to the US Military are done.
Implementation Proposal
The implementation of the findings of this study involves cybersecurity awareness training, which includes the formulation of training modules. These training programs are crucial in the reduction of security risks associated with the Military in relation to the cyberspace.
Proposed and Actual Outcomes
The proposed outcomes for this research are an increase in awareness of the importance of cybersecurity in the US Military and the introduction of regular cybersecurity awareness training. This research highlights the importance of awareness and makes recommendations for the improvements of the same.
