The Issue
Under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA), the Obama administration issued more than 800,000 undocumented immigrants with work permits and offered them protection from deportation (Forenza & Mendonca, 2017). The program was launched in 2012 and was perceived as a natural experiment. It was intended to assess what would happen if the government gave a portion of the overall population of immigrants’ free access to employment and other opportunities.
The immigrant’s protection program is under threat because President Donald Trump has aligned himself with hard-lined anti-immigration advocates within the GOP and struck down bipartisan attempts to reach a resolution. Additionally, legislators have failed to reach a bipartisan deal to resolve the fate of the dreamers- the millions of undocumented youth who came to the US as children and have been enjoying protection from deportation and had been allowed to enjoy benefits such as education and employment.

The Trump administration has failed to streamline the immigration issue that is affecting the country; because it has attempted enacting unfavorable policies. In a recent development, the US Attorney General announced that the Trump administration would phase out the DACA program if the legislators failed to come up with a deal to resolve the immigrant's issue by mid-March (Capps, Fix & Zong, 2017). The trump government has been criticized because it is opposed to the idea of renewing permits for the DACA beneficiaries. This move is risky and is bound to affect hundreds of thousands of immigrants leaving in the US.
The Significance of the Issue
Deporting the undocumented people out of America is against human rights. These people have a right to live and work in America. If these people are documented, it will be a way of reducing their tendencies to engage in unlawful actions. In the past, people have been negative on the issue of welcoming immigrants in America because some of them had been engaging in crimes. However, this perspective is wrong because most of the immigrants are busy doing constructive jobs and they pay their taxes. Most of the dreamers are either employed or in tertiary institutions pursuing higher studies.
It is also important to protect the DACA population since they came to the US as kids. They don’t have any connections to the countries their parents came from; deporting people who have spent most of their lives in the US would be an injustice. They would not know how to live elsewhere. They lack alternative place they can call home (Capps, Fix & Zong, 2017).
Personally, I think the DACA community is important in bringing competition in the workplace. The people immigrants are now educated, and they are getting attractive jobs. In this sense, they have made the Native Americans and citizens wake up from their slumber and work hard to advance in their careers and education. In the past, people thought that Native American was entitled to reasonable white color jobs. However, the situation has changed, and all people have to compete for available posts (Batalova et.al, 2013). Most of the companies are recruiting people based on qualification and capabilities rather than on ethnicity and other discriminatory approaches.
Immigrants play a significant role in the growing of the US economy. When the immigrants are documented and protected, they contribute to the revenues of the country and consequently help to grow the economy. The DACA community is composed of more than 3.6 million people; most of these people are learned and working (Forenza & Mendonca, 2017). Therefore they are required to pay taxes to the government. In this sense, the government will get resources to improve the economy from this population.
Social Justice Implications
A court decision had halted the reprieve from deportation and issuing of work permits to the DACA population. The intention of the Attorney General to end the program further complicated the situation for the immigrants. The legislators failed to enact a bipartisan 2017 Dream Act that would provide a way forward for the development (Batalova et.al, 2013), relief and education for alien minors. These would be a policy to help provide pathways to citizenship to undocumented immigrants who entered the US as children. Protection and reprieve of this population from deportation would be a noble act to allow upward social mobility and supporting minor communities in America (Forenza & Mendonca, 2017). Allowing the DACA beneficiary to live in America is described as an extraordinary act of mercy and would amount to amnesty for this population.
To protect the DACA population from deportation, I recommend there should be more advocacies by the legislators in establishing a nonpartisan bill that will sustain the DACA program. I this context, the legislators should try to convince other members to support the bill and help enact it as quickie as possible. Below is a letter to the legislators requesting him to support the DACA program and enactment of the Dream act of 2017.

Re: LOBBYING FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE DACA PROGRAM SUSTENANCE AND ENACTMENT OF THE DREAM ACT, 2017.
I wish to bring to your attention the recent development on the issue of undocumented immigrants who are at risk of being deported out of the country and the intention to deny this population an opportunity to live in America. This is an unfortunate action and is bound to impact the country’s economy and its relationship with the neighboring countries.
There is need to protect the DACA population because it is composed of working and educated people who are contributing to the growth of the country’s economy. The economy is growing, and the labor market is extremely tight. The DACA beneficiaries are people who have skills and knowledge that can be used to improve the workplace and the American economy (Batalova et. al, 2013). It would be a wrong move to end the DACA program and deport the learned immigrants. This would mean the country would be spending millions of dollars to remove the folks who have the potential of making the country to grow.
The Dream Act 2017 should be enacted because it is an appropriate policy and is described as the most generous policy in American history. The DACA policy is equally useful and is meant for the good. The Trump administration has been ignorant of the support the policies has received and intends to abolish the efforts that had been put in place to ensure that America benefits from the immigration of skilled workers to America. This population needs to be protected because they are instrumental in promoting the growth of the economy and addressing issues related to diversity. Deporting them would be wrong, and the country will be losing out on all the policies that had been passed on establishing a community that is welcoming and hospitable.
There is need to enact the Dream Act because it is a generous proposal that would provide legal status to 3.5 million dreamers who deserve to live, work and study in America. This would be a way to offer hope for people who are not originally America to live and flourish in this land. It is important to remember, that America finds its strength in the diversity of the people and the fact that is composed of different communities who came from different part of the world (Batalova et.al, 2013). The people who have made remarkable innovations and invention were migrants in America. Therefore it would be wrong to deport people out of the country yet they have skills and might bring in great developments.
Failing to support the young dreamers would be a way to squander people’s talents and punish the country. The dreamers are important people, and they have records of achievement. The legislators should work hard to ensure there is the enactment of policies that allow for the dreamers to work, stay and reach their full potential. This would improve the productivity at the workplace and in various institutions where the immigrants are integrated. It would also promote completion and professionalism in the workplace.
Though DACA was a social experiment, it served to facilitate its beneficiaries in acquiring better jobs and improve their lives. Before the program, the immigrants were being segregated and were frequently targeted by law enforcement officers. However, the DACA program served to ease stress and improve lives for this community. Therefore, it will be a social justice to adopt policies that will aid in the protection of the immigrants.
The intention by the Trump government to deny Dreamers permits to live in the US would impact their lives. The government is also attempting to phase out the DACA program and this will mean that the people who had been enrolled would have their lives in America made impermanent. Besides affecting their occupation, education and training, it would stop the protection they used to enjoy. They would no longer have the opportunity to follow their dreams and ambitions in America. Once they lose the protection they would lose of jobs and make them less productive in the society.
I, therefore, urge you to lobby for other legislators to support these two policies that will help to improve lives of immigrants in America. It will be ways of making America grow regarding professionalism and the economy. It will be a show of mercy to the children who have spent almost their whole lives in the country. If the policies were enacted there would be improved competition in the workplace, and they would raise America to higher achievements and innovations.

Lessons Learned
I have learned that immigrants are significant people in America. They have participated in goring of the country. Retaining the immigrants in America and enacting policies to protect them would be an act of mercy and generosity. It would be a way for America to improve its relations with other countries and the minor communities (Capps, Fix & Zong, 2017). The communities would be motivated to the accomplishment and paying taxes to the government. In the past, people overlooked the immigrants because they thought the immigrants were taking their jobs and piling pressure on their resources. This is incorrect because immigrants have made inventions that generate much revenue for the country and employ thousands of people. Accomplishments by the youthful immigrants can help improve the livelihood of the American population.
