The descriptive statistics are indicated below.

Q10: Is there a problem with gangs in our community? No=1, yes=2

Mean  1.62
Standard Error  0.069340921
Median
Mode
Standard Deviation  0.490314351
Sample Variance  0.240408163
Kurtosis  -1.814290359
Skewness  -0.509876978
Range
Minimum
Maximum
Sum  81
Count  50

The mean is approximately 2, which represents the yes answer. Based on the average value of the data set, the majority of the respondents believe that there is a gang issue within the community. This result is supported by the mode, which is the number that occurs the most in the data set. The mode is 2, meaning that the yes answer is the most frequent answer in the data set. The median, which is the specific value that separates the lower half of the data set from the upper half, is also 2. The sample deviation is 0.49, while the sample variance is 0.24. The low standard deviation depicts that the response data is clustered around the mean response of yes (Sharma, 2013) . The low variance also supports this view. The count is 50, meaning that the responses were obtained from 50 individuals.

Contribution of Results

The results can contribute to the development of policy aimed at protecting community members. Based on the results, the majority of the respondents believe that there is a gang problem in the community. Gangs are detrimental to the community members since gang activity causes violence which might lead to death. In addition, the community is likely to be negatively affected by instances of assault, illegal drug trade, theft, vandalism, and homicide, given that such crimes are likely to be perpetrated by gang members. Policy development is likely to be carried out when there are gaps in existing policies. The results are likely to inform legislators on which areas they need to focus on while devising new policies. The results show that existing policies addressing gang problems and enacted by the legislators are not working, and, for this reason, there is a need for new policies. In this case, the results may prove useful by guiding legislators in introducing policies that limit the influence and presence of gang members in the community. Essentially, the needs of the community members regarding safety and security are likely to be met through the new policies. The new policies can focus on creating multiagency teams and increased partnership with firms in the private sector. Partnerships with private-sector firms may result in large-scale improvements and investments in the community. Such investments are likely to provide job opportunities for delinquent youths who are likely to become gang members. In addition, the investments are likely to change the view of gang members regarding their community. Large-scale improvements such as those aimed at creating better housing or improving infrastructure are likely to allow the community members to see their neighborhood as resource-rich rather than poor (Vigil, 2020) . In this respect, gang members are likely to be invested in their neighborhoods, and cases of vandalism and violence are likely to reduce significantly.

Other results such as standard deviation can showcase the severity of the problem by illustrating how the responses are spread out from the mean. Notably, policymakers can decide whether tougher policies are needed to limit gang activity in the community. In this sense, the results will contribute positively to policy development.
