Nurse burnouts occur when nurses lose the sense of accomplishment in their work, often characterized by detachment and emotional exhaustion. This is response to chronic stress caused by stressful working environments, staff shortages and job pressure (Subaiya, 2020). Technology can be used to remedy burnout and nurse shortages. Various digital tools can be used to decrease burnouts caused by pressure in EMRs. This paper looks at data analytics technology and its efficacy in alleviating burnouts and shortages among nurses.

Data analytics tools help organizations record and integrate information. This information is then analyzed and modeled to discover useful information that supports decision making and approaches. Executives will be able to identify motivational factors and areas needing improvement. Specifically, these tools will help nurses to learn more about their patients’ condition history and thus know the best care provisions. Knowledge of critical information may reduce delays since the nurses can access data at their fingerprints without having to look from various sources. The integration of data also leads to more transparent communication between clinicians, nurses, and patients. The decisions made are based and supported by evidence due to the adoption of data-enabled approaches. These will lead to reduced clinical errors and delays, thereby reducing work and time overload for nurses. Nurses will also be able to standardize care leading to efficiency and improvements in care provision.

I do not plan to use this technology in the study period because it requires time and many resources to implement. Hospitals have to create room for data analytics teams or software to be built. They have to invest in this technology and to conduct training within their organizations. Nurses need to be trained to interpret and retrieve the data and use the retrieved data to support their work. This technology needs time before it can become embedded in the culture of organizations.
