The manager is responsible for planning, organizing the company, allocating duties to the staffs, managing the company, and also controlling the team by making decisions. As a manager, one is supposed to make sound and correct decisions concerning the company. Solving problems that occur in a company is a vital role of a manager. The manager is supposed to evaluate the situation and consider the necessary solutions to the problem. He or she should be quick in making right decisions since some issues need to be solved in shorter periods. I believe by improving in decision making, I will help my company to move forward and solve critical problems that may lower the company's returns. Making good decisions will motivate the employees to work harder, and know that they can rely on their leader when an issue arises.
Qualities of an effective decision-maker
An effective decision maker possesses numerous skills. One, a manager should define the problem. He/she should identify the problem accurately to avoid solving the wrong problem. A good manager identifies the factors that are causing problems; for example, if the company is experiencing low profits, it may be caused by poor market research. Next is to concentrate on the problem identified in step one, and then weigh all ideas that might be used to solve the problem. The manager should use the best idea after analyzing all alternatives. After investigating, the manager should implement the decision made. Lastly, the manager should establish and control the evaluation system.

An effective leader can incorporate empathy in his/her leadership by showing that he or she understands what the employees are feeling. He or she needs listen to what his employees has to say. Listening to employees gives leaders a chance to connect, and learn what they are feeling. A leader should further communicate with his employees in a healthy productive way. The employees who have done their work well should be recognized so as to raise their morale.

Time is limited, particularly when running a business. For effective time management, Dunn (2016) suggests that a manager should set goals which are clear and attainable. Training, and continued engagement in activities that promote time management, help in improving the skill. Moreover, a manager should learn how to prioritize tasks such as urgent tasks, important tasks, and non-urgent. Further, making a clear schedule will help the manager attend to what is important and do what is right at the right time, thus saving time. If a manager has poor time management skills, he or she will fail to achieve the company’s goals and may not demonstrate good leadership to employees. He or she needs to always act as a role model. Time management helps one plan time in the workplace on that outside their working environment effectively. It means that the individual will not be too engrossed in one aspect while overlooking the other.
