A nursing theory refers to an imaginative and meticulous organization of concepts that project a provisional, decisive, and methodical understanding of incidents while a nursing conceptual model refers to a collection of comparatively theoretical and common ideas and proposals about those ideas that focus on the ideas of the nursing metaparadigm.
An example of a nursing theory is King's theory of goal attainment. This theory focuses on the provision of care to patients by families and other members of the community. King's theory outlines a conceptual system that shows the interaction between the personal system, the interpersonal system, and the social systems. The theory emphasizes the role of the clients and nurses in the planning and implementation of health care services. This theory is important in patient care management since families and caregivers of the patient learn their different roles in taking care of the patient. The nurse can reduce the devoted assistance role while the family members learn how to cope with the illness or death of their loved one (Joseph & Sreedevi, 2018) .

Florida has a formulated process of ensuring that nurses meet the standards of practice. The nurses are taught the set of laws and rules that govern nursing practice in the state. The nurses are then taught and evaluated on the current standards of practice in Florida. The Nursing standards of practice involve assessment of patient’s health, diagnosis, identification of possible results, planning strategies and alternatives based on the expected results, implementation of the identified plan, and evaluation of patient’s progress (Taylor, 1991) .
The entities that are involved in the development of the standards in Florida are the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Florida Nurses Association. ANA’s role is to develop the overall nursing scope and standards while the Florida Nurses Association revises their specific scope which is aligned with the broad parameters. These standards of practice influence my area of specialty because it promotes professionalism in nursing practice by enabling self-assessment by different stakeholders and it provides us with the framework for competence.
