I agree with Ryann’s approach to Classical Organization theory. Still, I wish to mention that it is not only restricted to Weber’s bureaucratic approach and Taylor’s approach, but also the administrative theory. Max Weber, in his approach, visualizes an organization to be a composite of the general society, and it works under the influence of various principles, namely: democracy, predictability, and stability, structure, rationality, specialization, and labor distribution (Guru, 2018). My opinion about this approach is that it is self-perpetuating, rigid, empire-building, and impersonal. I want to add some details to Ryan’s response regarding Taylor’s theory that it does consider not only unity and performance improvement but also highlights the scientific approach. Based on experience, Taylor’s approach was that an organization should also focus on scientific hiring and training of employees, labor management, and cooperation as its breakthrough to achieving standardization, simplification, specialization, and efficiency (Caramela, 2018).
Additionally, the administrative theory, proposed by Henry Fayol considers management as a way of planning, making arrangements, training employees, executing commands, and coordinating the workforce. While I agree with Ryan’s response considering Taylor’s and Weber’s approach to be constituting performance improvement, I feel that the Classical Theory focuses more on organizational performance and success rather than individual employee performance. This means that there is a loose grip on accountability per employee.

Response to James
James puts Classical theory so well that Weber and Taylor gave the impression of an organization being a machine and the employees in an organization considered as parts of the machine. More emphasis was on organizational survival rather than employee welfare. Like Ryann’s response, James has the same idea of how Weber treated Classical Theory. Focus on the hierarchical chain in command, well-laid procedures, conducting merit-based hiring, ensure organizational success (Guru, 2018). I’m also in an undeterred agreement with James’s response regarding Taylor’s approach to the Classical Organizational Theory. Taylor used this scientific approach to focus on performance monitoring, employee training and responsibility delegation, and assignment subdivision into small subtasks that are easily workable. True enough, both Taylor and Weber were inconsiderate about employee welfare and were instead on the forefront to strategize for organizations at large, especially management. It is proof that this was the most significant hitch of the Classical Organizational Theory proposed by both Taylor and Weber.
