Following the significant advancement in the medicine and surgery field, many impossibilities have turned into possibilities. As the world has come to the acceptance of sexual differences, with biological uncertainty, people are vying for the sex change. Ultimately, an increasing number of people have taken to the reassignment procedure to curtail the injustice faced by the minorities in communities around the world.Although gender-based agencies are advocating for the sexual reassignment, is considered an immoral act among conservative institutions who regard creation as the principal of God.Besides, it is the psychological perspective attached to the impulsiveness of the sex change that is demeaning globally. Despite the fact that gender reassignment has a myriad of downfalls such as cost implication, risks involved and social conflict, it offers reprise for gender dysphoria, personal mortification, acceptance and sexual reality; thus, allowing societies to incline to particular gender divides. This paper aims at discussing the different perception of gender reassignment.

Reprise from Gender Dysphoria

The victimization of people due to dysphoria is marginalizing the ideologies of societies today. It is worth noting that such a stance connotes an issue where individuals feel that they have a problem correlating to their gender and sexual traits. Besides, a vast difference exists between the biological sex of a person and the identity based on gender. While one is the inability to express one of the two creates a sense of discomfort, it is important for a transgender person to make a decision that makes them feel accepted. The difference between the two which is gender dysphoria makes people live in discomfort and unhappily as they feel to be existing in someone else’s body, not theirs. As a result, most of them opt to go for gender reassignment. Normally this kind of treatment involves breast surgery, chest reconstruction, and many others. Therefore, the very fact that someone has a choice to change their appearance is enough to count the practice worthy.

Personal Mortification

It is not strange that some families have challenges of giving birth to children of the same-sex. Such scenarios very much affect the love life of a family and the chances of desperateness high. Furthermore, it can result in misunderstandings and family breakups since parents tend to accuse and blame each other based on their background. To break the cross-generation inheritance, parents choose to go for gender reassignment of their children (Gender, Marks & Spencer Ltd, 2002). For instance, celebrity Caitlyn Jenner is a sex change from a male identity to a female was because she felt trapped in a man’s body, which limited personal expression. Also, in cultures where giving birth to a particular sex is looked at as a curse, gender reassignment assists in breaking the curse by giving parents more opportunities to alter or make variations in their children’s sex statuses. Therefore, with such possibilities, parents find it worth taking risks of undergoing gender reassignment.

Fosters Acceptance

Up to date, some societies still believe that females are less important and less industrious, therefore in such communities, gender reassignment is looked at as the only way to create the desired population (Butler, 2004). The growing same-sex relationships have led to rudimentary practices among some sects that consider it an abomination for it is inhuman to them. As a result, in some Arab cultures, people with such ‘defects’ are forced into SRS to allude them from facing the injustices of the communities. For instance, the staunch sharia law followed by Arab countries in the Middle-East has given birth to the persecution of transgender and transsexed people in their communities. Thus, the growing practice of sex reassignment stands to ensure that people escape the personal image crisis on their lives.

Ensures Sexual Reality

It is not possible for a person to enjoy or experience feelings of both gender statuses that is female and male at the same time. Therefore, for anxious people, gender reassignment would be the best way to go. Notably, this is a common tendency among youths that always want to discover new staff, and they end up opting for gender surgery. However, there cases where solutions may not be sought, taking the case of South African Olympian Caster Semenya, who hormones stress the embodiment of a male in a female body. It is such instance that makes it essential for one to be themselves rather than forcing the concepts of society unto them. Besides changing from one sex to the desired one, gender surgery can play also play a significant role in reshaping people’s bodies such as resizing of the chest, breasts among others. As a result, most people find reasons to spend sums of money on the reassignment treatment. Conclusively, to some extent gender surgery, is recommendable since it can enable individuals to live in their dreams, the so-called world of impossibilities.

Gender Reassignment is Costly

However recommendable it could be, gender reassignment is expensive since it comes with very many costs before, during and after the treatment. Before going for the treatment, patients are advised to go through a lot of preparation such as relocation from home to the place of surgery or hospital. Further, break from work for over 2 to 3 weeks, change in the diet that might be one’s favorite and even use of drugs such as pain relievers to reduce pain after surgery (Hoenig, 2011). In trying to meet these prerequisites, the patient will eventually meet costs although some of them might not be financial as expected. Besides all the expensive conditions set before or after, the treatment itself is expensive, and this is so evident by the fact that it is accessed in only a few developed countries such as Germany, the United States of America where it goes for around $7000.

Affects the Reproductive System of Patients

With gender reassignment, the chances are high that the patient might never reproduce or even fertilize if he is a male. During the treatment, patients’ organs which are sources of sex hormones are removed and may never be replaced (Lippa, 2002). The risky process involves some procedures, which are considered untamable for some patients. For the case of Trans men, there must be the process of mastectomy and hysterectomy to ensure that female trait are discarded. Similarly, the Trans women process serves no fewer arguments in the same sense; genital reconstruction is complicated a presents a combination of needs for it be successful. Hence, the reassignment process creates a process of limitation in case of a failure.

Gender Reassignment is Very Risky

Although there is a need for patients to get close to doctors before their decision to go for gender surgery, most of them tend to ignore the procedures because of the urgent need to quench their desire by having their sex reassigned. Failure to follow the right procedure exposes patient’s life to risks most of which are mental or psychological. According to Hoenig(2011), even though, it is said that there are few death risks associated with gender reassignment there are instances of complications such as in people with HIV and with a history of Hepatitis. Given that these procedures are conducted mostly by private clinicians, many would argue for situational avoidance in case it escalates out of medical bounds. That is the reason behind the strict confidentiality documents signed by patients before going under the knife.

Social Conflict

Given the fact that the treatment involves surgery which is believed to be the most painful, people go through terrible hours during the process. The intense pain during process comes with many consequences that include, depriving people of their sleep, discomfort and these significantly affect their daily life or even their work. In addition to the severe pain, patients also face rejection, rumor, abuses and frustrating comments from their societies (Gender, 2002). Most organizations find it unnecessary, unethical, and immoral for one to go gender reassignment. Moreover, this can be even severe in Christian communities who believe that such responsibilities are only of God not human. As a result, victims of gender reassignment may lose friends, their jobs and even respect for such uncalled for acts.

Although people with transgender reason need to seek solutions to their unacceptance of their natural sexuality, they must accept that society still has inclinations to reassignments. As the world is gaining insight into the sexual problem and injustice faced by many people, it is gaining world recognition to help solve the problem. However, there must ecollectiveness to ensure that all processes are followed, and people provided of safety. With measures to transit from one sexuality to another takes place, it is a call for communities to focus on the personal ramification of people before judging them. Therefore, taking all that has been explained in context, SRS procedures can help people find the real sense of being human.
