Diversity has always been a divisive issue and a concern for many people around the world. The trend is attributed to the fact that we live in a community that consist of people from various backgrounds ( Gomez & Bernet, 2019; Grubs, 2020 ). I have been working in an organization where people from various regions exists. These are individuals with unique views, religions, and cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, they are people who hold diverse views regarding some of the controversial issues in the society.

In the course of the project, I used the principles of organizational community to analyze the workplace. I made several findings that can be used as the basis for promoting diversity in the community. The first major finding is that the group consisted of people who had diverse beliefs and views about life. Some of them appeared to be religious while others tend to be less religious. The second major finding is that the differences between members of the organization can be a source of conflict between them. The conflicts usually arise when one member of the group believes that the others are infringing their rights. The third major issue that I realized is that the conflicts between the employees usually lead to poor performance. When the team lack cohesion, members are not able to work towards achieving a common objective. Instead, they focus on achieving their personal interest at the expense of group interest. In this regard, diversity can become a major hindrance to performance in the place of work. The final finding is that while some members of the team appreciate diversity, there are those who view it as something that should not be promoted in the place of work. These differences in opinion can lead to conflict and make it difficult for people to achieve common goals.

All the 5 elements that have been highlighted relate with the word of God in various Bible verses that stress the importance of embracing diversity for success in everything that we do. For example, the book of Revelation states the importance of unity as Christians since we are all equal in the eyes of the lord. The verse states that “final gathering of God’s people from “every nation, tribe, and tongue” (Revelation 7:9). By embracing diversity as an organization, we are able to convert our cultural differences into competitive advantage as the first paradigm shift in the book states. As the second paradigm shift from the book states, organizations must make a conscious decision to identify and teach their employees about diversity at the work place as it is the only way to ensure that they appreciate diversity and embrace it.
