Diversity at work embraces people with different belief systems, culture, age groups, and gender equality, among other considerations (Dyson, 2017) . The ability to recognize this as a manager will lead to effective management and discovery of talent that will enable workplace cohesion and business growth.
The Effects of Own Culture on Managing a Diverse Group
Moving to a new country means learning about the culture of that place in order to understand how people work and interact with each other, especially at the workplace. The managers have to understand that their own culture, behavior, and beliefs might influence decision making, communication, and conflict management. Therefore, they will be trained on the ability to communicate policy and procedures effectively, how to manage conflict, and the importance of encouraging employees to work in diverse groups (Al-Jenaibi, 2012). This approach is important because a diverse environment not only brings advantages to the business: It can also cause miscommunication due to language barriers, intercultural conflicts, among other issues that slow down business growth.

Be Realistic
As managers in a new environment, it is also important to set realistic goals. The managers will be trained on setting goals to be achieved after two years and how will these goals be achieved. Moreover, the importance of involving everyone in the organization in company goal setting will be emphasized. At the same time, the managers will be trained to control the expectations of other members of the organization. That way, everyone is on the same page on what needs to be pursued and achieved after the given period.
Training for workplace diversity prepares one for the new environment they will be working in. It gives them the tools they will need to manage effectively without discrimination or cultural bias.
