Water is a precious commodity which is required in every aspect of livelihood. In the developing countries, water shortage presents as one of the major challenges which people face. In other developed countries such as the United States, people use the clean drinking water practically for almost everything. The same potable water is used to flush the toilets, used for cooking and washing clothes among other domestic purposes. Used water, depending on what the water has been used for, may pose certain adverse effects on the environment such as pollution. Water recycling may help prevent such negative effects of used domestic water on the environment. Water recycling may also come in handy in the developing countries where water shortage presents as one of the major humanitarian concern and challenges. In such countries, systems for water recycling need to be put in place in order to save more water and provide more water for the people. Recycled water has a variety of use and applications. Recycled water may be used domestically to water gardens and certain plants in the compound. Used water can be made useful again and applied in other domestic sectors such as the gardens. The grey water (used water from toilets, sinks and bathrooms) is ideal for garden watering. Recycling of grey water should be recommended and used in home gardens. Recycled water may also be used for washing clothes in the house. Washing clothes require large volumes of water. Water used for washing clothes account for a bigger value in the family water bills. Using recycled water in place of the regular clean drinking water may even help save some money for families. Properly treated recycled water may be made fit for drinking just like the ordinary clean water used drinking. People also use recycled water for other domestic uses such as showering.

Most people like spending a lot of time in the shower and end up using too much water. Just like the water used in washing clothes, water used in the bathroom for showering may also cause an increase in the water bills. Using recycled water instead of the normal clean water for showing save money. Domestic sections or sectors such as the do not require the normal clean water used for drinking (among other domestic uses). It is not quite logical to use the normal precious drinking water to flush the toilet. It even sounds a little inhuman as some people can hardly get water for drinking. Therefore, it is more fitting that recycled is ideal to be used in flushing down the toilet. Other domestic uses of recycled water include washing utensils, washing and cleaning the house and washing household items and properties such as cars or bikes. Recycled water should be utilized more often for such domestic purposes. Washing cars, for instance, require large volumes of water. If a person intends to use the normal clean water, a lot of it will be used. Consequently, much of that water will go to waste and in turn bring more environmental effects such as pollution and poor drainage. Recycled water is ideal for this application and purpose. In addition, systems should be put in place in the positions where cars are washed to control the draining water. These applications for recycled water should also be applied in the developing countries where water shortage is quite a disturbing issue and a challenge. Recycled water may help the people get more water for domestic uses such as washing clothes and utensils, bathing and washing and cleaning household items and properties among other domestic purposes (Willis, et al. 2011).
