To prepare an education program that focuses on illness prevention especially on adults, it is important to consider various factors. In adults, education on how they can prevent obesity is vital as it is associated with various other risks such as hypertension, diabetes and also heat diseases (Lorber 2014). Therefore, to select the audience that would benefit from this program, it is important to understand the characteristics of the population by liking at some features that may include literacy level, health status ethnicity, among others. Besides, lifestyles and behaviors can be used in these criteria since diabetes and those two factors have a strong relationship. Additionally, the target population’s environment is a key factor when selection audience because individuals are influenced by their surroundings, hence they can determine their health status.
Systems and policy levels can also be important in developing a program to prevent obesity. Identifying the health status of the target group would help to incorporate the appropriate intervention measures to prevent more illnesses. Besides, literacy levels are vital when selecting the group so that the right teaching and educational methods can be prepared in advance. Moreover, the environment that may include both social and physical surrounding of the target audience is also vital since they play an essential role in controlling obesity-related illnesses (Zhou et al 2016). Therefore the criteria to select adults who can benefit from this education program should consider all the factors associated with the disease. I have some personal connection with the target population since I have been treating obesity patients in the community. My long time experience would give me the advantage to educate the audience about the risks associated with being obese (Kolb & Martin 2017). Besides, I can use my counselling experience to train and educate them on the better ways of preventing obesity alongside other related diseases. Therefore, I will give them my insights into how such risks can be mitigated earlier to prevent severe cases. Consequently, the selected audience would only comprise of the right people who can maximally benefit from this program.
