Watching television is often done to pass the time. It is fun to watch for most people and happens to be very addictive. The effectiveness of a Television set to satisfy all these needs have made most people ignorant of the demerits of watching.

Among the many, the common ones include eye problems. The bright colors on the pictures will always affect those that watch for long hours. Most action movies have a lot of explosions and gunshots this may cause you migraines. Laziness is also encouraged. Some people will even go unnoticed just to watch their favorite shows while others are sleeping or even doing some important work. False and misleading adverts present may cause you to make bad choices which may affect your life. Children are prone to these misleads.

Family time is no longer family time since the invention of the television sets. Kids use most of their free time watching instead of being with their parents. The other time they have may be spent on their books. This is however not a different case when it comes to their parents since they work and watch during their free time. It is funny how a friend will invite you over to his or her place. On coming you find that all his or her attention is on the television the entire time. Half the time will be spent on you if lucky enough. This is a habit that has reduced the time most people spent with their loved ones hence most people care less about others.

We are in the 21st century where technology has made it easy for a person to order or buy a pile of snack by just a click on their phone, stay in his or her house, sit and watch for a whole weekend. This may bring some lifestyle diseases like obesity. Less or no energy is wasted while watching so most of the food taken into the body is never utilized. All they do is talk whenever needed to comment on a scene on the screen. Sometimes if you ask them a question, they will answer having their full attention on the screen. It is boring how a person will never move from a seat and fetch some water for drinking just because they are watching.

Despite the fact that no one likes being ignored, most people will opt to ignore others just to watch. For instance, people who love watching particular shows for example football will even overlook important tasks and people just to watch a game. You may see this in your friend or child. It is the high time for people to learn and understand that a television can be much addictive.

Most importantly, knowing that whatever you are watching influences your mood and sometimes your mentality. If you watched a movie and the characters are acting a scene that involves a painful and emotional period, there is no way one will not sympathize with the victim despite the fact that it is just a movie? It is also believed that some movies influence the type of character the viewer has. In most cases, the so-called “good parents” will always check whatever their children are watching. Most adults reason out, so it is not easy for them to be influenced. But it hurts when your friend is so much into watching and they are carried away such that you lack their attention.

When you have a company of people who love watching, and you are not a movie lover, you will always feel left out. Despite the good strength of your bond, you will never have fun while passing the time with them. They will always talk about a good movie they watched. Apparently, you will get bored since your interest is far from theirs. It also occurs that anytime you have a conversation with a person whose mind is set to watch television, they will more than once talk of things that are out of the topic. To fit in their world, it is a better option when you talk or ask of things related to that movie. Whether in a group or two of you, it will always suit you to talk about things related to the type of movie you are watching. This helps to avoid divided attention which may bring conflicts.

In conclusion, despite the fact that television is a good source of entertainment and knowledge, it is also crucial that everyone understands that every good thing has its bad side too.
