According to my understanding, spiritual care is the practice that takes into consideration the emotional and religious concerns of a patient besides the physical diagnosis. It is a holistic approach that strives to treat the whole person. Even though the physical treatment of medical conditions is essential, health practitioners should become active listeners and encourage patients to explore their worries and fears. Listening to patients as they talk about their beliefs without passing any judgment is crucial as it helps them cope with stress, thereby improving their quality of life (Veloza-Gómez et al., 2017) . Spiritual care is important because it helps give meaning and purpose to the patient’s life by inspiring hope. Other ways nurses can deliver spiritual care is by the provision of sacred texts and places of worship or prayers for patients. The definition aligns with the description of Called to Care of spiritual care. Called to Care also asserts that spiritual care is concerned with the provision of compassionate care that strives to place patients closer to God by encouraging them to explore their thought, fears, and beliefs (Shelly and Miller, 2006)

Piper Simington succeeds in divulging the intricate details of spiritual care in healthcare. I agree with her definition, which strives to explain the respecting the beliefs of others and not trying to enforce one's own beliefs on patients is one of the best ways of enhancing spiritual care. Lance Renier succeeds to mention that spiritual care involves putting a patient in touch with God through Bible reading. She, however, fails to point out that spiritual care involves facilitating all religious beliefs of faith other than Christianity. Danielle York, on the other hand, is right when he says that the best way to provide spiritual care is for medical practitioners to be mindful of the culture of patients. A health care practitioner who respects the cultural differences and shows compassion to patients encourages them to express their concerns openly, thereby making it easy to improve their overall wellbeing.
