Question 1-3
The self-scoring Emotional Intelligence Test by Mark Daniel has enabled me to understand myself better. Concerning, the eight areas of self-scoring Emotional Intelligence Test, I have identified that I am independent, emotionally literate, an extrovert, a leader, and I also have a positive self-image. Before taking the test, I was not fully aware of my emotional intelligence; therefore, the findings of the test are surprising. From the findings, I realized I seem to be leadership material. I have leadership qualities, including being sympathetic, impulsive, and I also can associate well with other people (Daniel, 2000). From the test, I learned that leadership is at once to deal with a strong sense of identity and purpose, and above all, the ability to manage time (Daniel, 2000). Therefore, to improve my leadership skills, I will have to improve my time management skills and also be emotionally competent.
Question 4-6: Assessment of lifelong Learning Education Plan
Leadership skills have to be learned and mastered over time; hence, nurse leaders have to engage in lifelong learning. Therefore, pursuing a Masters degree and a Ph.D. degree in nursing is the formal education I need after I complete my BSN degree so as to improve my leadership skills. I currently have a written, long-life learning education plan to improve my leadership skills. Other than my BSN degree and training, I need to add developmental coaching to my plan. Through coaching, I will be able to leverage other people gifts, strengths, and talents hence improving my leadership skills (Roussel, Harris, & Thomas, 2015). In the next 3 to 5 years, I would like to advance the executive nurse leader role or the nurse manager role. Therefore, to position myself to be in these roles, I need to add a masters degree and a Ph.D. degree in nursing to my formal education plans.
