Ethical conduct is the act of employing moralities or the basis of morality to judge that which relates to doing right or wrong. Unethical behavior refers to flawlessness in terms of moral principles and lack of will to comply with appropriate conduct guidelines. In business, the reputation of a company is a crucial contributor to its success.

There are organizations establishing business operations in nations with low wages and paying little stipends to workers than those in their home countries. This is somewhat unethical but a legal conduct case. Many companies are doing this in countries such as China. Additionally, unethical conduct involves child labor as is in some African countries such as in Congo’s cobalt mines since no clear laws prohibit such acts. Tesla, a well-known electrical car company, is alleged to be promoting children's deaths in the Congolese cobalt mines (Kelly, 2019). The company benefits from these mines in DRC as cobalt is a crucial part of lithium batteries used to run the cars they manufacture.

Child labor is considered illegal in most countries. It negatively affects the social development of those practicing it hence making it unethical. It also involves the exploitation of children's rights, which corrupts society's morals. Tesla made a wrong decision because they moved to benefit from weak laws and regulatory structures as they wanted to remain operational and get maximum productivity at the least possible cost.

In most countries, laws are made by the legislative arm of the governing bodies. The demands vary from one business to another, so do the regulations and rules governing them. These laws are of great importance as they mastermind the company's administration and help run businesses effectively (Ramirez, 2016). They also help create a healthy competitive environment. A list of business laws includes; employment and labor law, tax code, antitrust law, email marketing, advertising, environmental regulations, privacy, licensing, insurance, sales tax, intellectual property, and pay data reports.
