The dilemma often arises because there is no proved way of reducing the patient’s recovery period. Some people argue that doctors should be allowed to take control of the patients’ care based on the fact that the doctor is more experienced and has the necessary knowledge to know what is good for the patient. Organ transplantation also comes with the challenge of choosing between honesty and information where the chances of recovery are meager ( Sah et al. 2017). A dilemma is often experienced when deciding whether such information should be given to the patient or withheld. Disclosing all the information to the patient is the right thing. However, it might kill their hope and probably prompt them to reject the medication. In other cases, the patient may prefer to know their condition whereas the family members opt to keep the patient in the dark. The author argues that the option taken should be in the interest of the patient’s quick recovery.
Even though there are measures that have been put in place to regulate organ transplantation, there is no clear way of enforcing these measures. For example, the United States do not have a clear guideline on how to avoid the ethical dilemmas. The fact that the doctors possess more knowledge does not guarantee that they will make the right choice in every situation. In most cases, the closest family member is in the best positon to decide what is good for the patient. The medical profession primarily involves the doctor and the patient. A good and objective relationship between the two is presented the best way of eliminating the healthcare challenges and improving the recovery process. The best way of improving the relationship between a doctor and a patient should involve interaction and reactions through sharing of information. If the patient and the patient share common objectives and views of a medical situation, then there is a high possibility of achieving those goals. The relationship between the two is also meant to simplify the service delivery. Each one of the two parties has an obligation to play for it to be a valid contract. A doctor can only provide his services where the patient makes it easy for those services to be delivered.
