The question about the true person of Jesus has elicited various reactions from different scholars. The Christians view about the identity of Jesus is based on biblical doctrines. However, the theory on Jesus has faced skeptic criticism from modern day scholars. The emergence of technology and evolution of science has provided a different view of Jesus other than the biblical one. New scientific discoveries shed anther version of the person of Jesus. The dilemma created by the subject of true identity of Jesus can be solved by skeptical evaluation of both biblical and secular information without prejudice and bias.

The Main Point of Jesus Teachings in Mathew 6: 19-24

The main point of Jesus teachings in the gospel of Mathew 6:19 is that human beings should pay more attention to their spiritual person other than human nature. In the stated gospel, Jesus warns human beings of storing their treasures on earth were moths and vermin exist. Jesus was not implying to ordinary treasures in His argument rather He implied spiritual inclination ( Ford, 2019). Jesus implied to human beings that they should not focus more on earthly material possession but, their spiritual inclination with God.

Moreover, the gospel of Mathew 6:19 shed enlightenment on the identity of Jesus. Jesus uses the analogy of a lamp to elude his true identity and purpose on earth. The scripture reads “The human eye is the spotlight of the body. If the eye is fit sick, the whole body full of light, but if the eye is sick then the whole body will be full of darkness”. According to the scripture, the word body represents the church. The claims of Jesus in the scripture is that, He is the enlightenment of the Church, and without Him the Church would not exist ( Ford, 2019). Jesus uses the teachings in Mathew 6:22 to reveal his identity to human beings. By claiming to be the light of the Church explains that Jesus was on a servant of God who was sent to enlighten human beings on the way of God.

The Relevance of Jesus Teachings in Mathew 6: 19 To Other World Views

The relevance of Jesus sermon is that it confirms that the true Identity of Jesus is that He is Son God. The teachings answer the secular claims that depict Jesus as a normal prophet of God who was sent just as the other prophets were sent ( Crenshaw, 2019).  The teachings of Jesus in the sermon present Him as the light of the Church and that without Him the Church would not exist. Jesus confirm that He was sent to save humanity and introduce them to the doctrines of God.

The Revelation of The Teachings About Jesus

The teachings reveal that Jesus is the subject being referred to in the scripture of John 3:16. The scripture argues that God treasured the world so much that He sent His son so whoever believes in Him will be saved by the son. Jesus confirms His spiritual mission of saving the Church who would believe in Him ( Crenshaw, 2019). The teachings approve that Jesus was a Son to God who was sent to save the humanity from sin.

The Claim of Jesus Above His Purpose in The Gospel of Mathew: 9: 9-13

The gospel of Mathew 9:9-13 features an incidence were Jesus seen sharing a meal with tax collectors and sinners. The teachers of law criticized the act of Jesus. The teachers of law perceived associating with sinners as a sin. Jesus respondent by saying that He did not come for the righteous but to save the sinners. Tax collectors were the sinners in the context of the scripture.

The Significance of The Teachings of Jesus In Mathew 9:9-13

Jesus claimed that His mission on earth was not for the righteous but for the lost sinners. Jesus claims in His response to the critics of the teachers of law unveil the person of Jesus and His mission on earth. Jesus eluded that He came to save the worthless sinners and direct them to eternal life ( Ho, 2019). Jesus used the claims in the sermon to distinguish Himself from the rest of the prophets who had preceded Him. Jesus wanted to depict the uniqueness of His identity and mission to the critics.

The other prophets who had come before Jesus Christ preached the good news of God. However, the mission of Jesus was unique in the sense that He did not come to preach good news alone but He came to save humanity from sin. Jesus used the claims to confirm his identity as son of God. Jesus claimed to have the power of directing those who believed in Him to God the Father. Moreover, the claims of Jesus in the teachings reveal that Jesus came to replace the law with grace ( Ho, 2019). The Mosaic Law prohibited righteous people to associate with sinners. However, Jesus demonstrates that He came to replace the law by associating with tax collectors and converting them to the ways of God.

My Response to The Question of Jesus In Mark 8:29

My response to Jesus question would be that I think He is the Son of God. There are several incidences that had happened before the question of Jesus on His identity which prove the claim of Jesus as a son of God. My answer to Jesus would be based on the events that happened during the baptism of Jesus Christ. The crowd that was present during Jesus baptism witnessed incidences that confirm the identity of Jesus as the Son of God. Before Jesus was baptized, John the Baptist had hinted to the crowd of someone great that Him ( MacDonald, 2019). John said that He did not even have the authority to touch the shoes laces of Jesus because He was Holy. Moreover, during the baptism of Jesus, a loud voice from heaven identified Jesus as the Son of God that was sent to save human kind.

My personal belief about the person of Jesus is that He was certainly God’s servant who was sent to save human kind from sin. However, I would be certain to qualify Jesus as the son of God because of several weaknesses in the theories that qualify Jesus as God’s son. Contemporary critics argue that Jesus under went so much excruciating pain that humbled His Godly nature to unbelievable measures ( MacDonald, 2019). The critics point out that a son to God would so powerful that He cannot be crucified on a cross by men. Moreover, am reluctant to confirm the identity of Jesus as God’s son because the divinity of God cannot allow Him to have a son. It beats logic how God can have a son in human body.

The main theme of Jesus teachings in the gospel of Mathew 6:19 is that spirituality is more important than material possession to human beings. The teachings of Jesus elude that the true person of Jesus is that He is the enlightenment of the Church of God. Jesus depicts His purpose on earth as centered on the sinners other than the righteous. The claims of Jesus in His teachings depict Him as the replacement of the Mosaic Law that was practiced under the Jewish culture. Contemporary science challenges the ideology of Jesus as the son of God. The perfect identity of Jesus can achieve by unbiased evaluation of both biblical and secular evidence.
