Question 1

The scenario of the problem offers a conflictual state-based that a social worker is a religious person. As the supervisor, the best way to help the social worker is to identify the ethical issues and understand how to act on the situation. The religious nature makes social work more challenging since religion does not acknowledge homosexuality makes. The situation is surrounded by many ethical issues like conflicts of interest, discrimination, misrepresentation, and lack of informed consent.

First, the most prevalent ethical issue is the conflict of interests. The religious status of the young worker makes them feel the case should not be handled by them. The belief that religion does not accept homosexuality makes the social worker be in a conflictual situation. The chances that the worker can decide to choose religion and omit the codes of ethics of the nonjudgmental organization. The religious interests block the organization's interests of offering no judgment in counseling. Also, the young social worker sounded to condone gay couples based on their religion against same-sex marriage. Discrimination is an ethical issue based that an organization that offers social services and counseling with no judgments to the clients (Assembly, 2008). After understanding the case, the worker brings religion, depicting that they are unworthy of the case.

Also, I can identify lack of informed consent as an ethical issue in this situation. The young worker seems to have a little understanding of the case. The worker fails to identify that it is their work to offer nonjudgmental counseling to their clients despite their social backgrounds as an organization. Also, the situation faces misrepresentation. The worker who is a representative of the organization should work per the codes and values of the organization cause. By declaring the religious stand in a case makes them misrepresent the organization. They depict that they are not able to counsel the partners because of their religious stand.

Question 2

As the supervisor to the young worker, I would advise her to consider understanding the codes of ethics of the organization. Since she is new to the organization, she might not be aware of the organization's codes of conduct. She must realize that the organization practices counseling from a nonjudgmental approach. This approach makes it effective to offer counsel to the clients of all compositions and kinds of people in the society. The young should consider the case a professional responsibility. By acting professionally, she will not have any issue with the situation at hand. The competitive nature of the worker should be evident, and as a responsibility, she should never discriminate the nature of the problem.

Also, it is good to consider that as professionals, social workers must serve their clients. The integrity by which the clients offer services is evident, especially when they accept offering counseling, which has yielded a positive result. The consideration that their clients are people who also have personal decisions in their lives should be a matter of concern. The rights of the clients come first (Chron Contributor, 2020). Despite the religious belief condemning lesbianism and homosexuality, she realizes that there are some countries where the governing laws accept it. As a service provider, it is her work to look for enough information to reasonably satisfy the client.

Question 3

The young worker should be able to solve the assigned case. I would suggest that she develop empathy and an attitude of acceptance of the client's situation. Through the acceptance of the situation, she is going to be nonjudgmental to the case. The cases of lesbian marriage in society are numerous, and she will have to visit them to at least accept that their reasons people are involved in them. I suggest that she is the first Christian to offer counseling to lesbian couples. This way, I will make her gain the confidence to work on the situation. Referring her to the bible would boost her trust; thus, I would suggest the bible verse that accepts nonjudgmental. For instance, Mathew 7 warns against judging unless you will also be judged ("Bible gateway Matthew 7:: NIV," 2020). She will see sense in this and take the situation as a normal life situation. Also, the acceptance will make her have an unconditional positive attitude. The acceptance will make her not change the client's situation to suit their conditions.

Additionally, I would suggest that the relationship between the clients and the counselor is built on a moral foundation. The morals initiate respect between the parties. By working on codes and ethics of work, she will offer comprehensive counseling to the couples. The applicable codes will prevent their private and personal believes from hindering the counseling. As a qualified counselor, it is useful for her to believe that the agency codes are for a peaceful relationship when serving the clients despite the complexity of nature. As a registered social worker, she should always endeavor to develop competency, knowledge, and skills that are useful to respond positively to the interests and the needs of their clients comprising of gay people.
