The Red Cross Society of America is a typical example of an organization that is not concerned about making profits but helping people overcome challenges during disasters. In this particular organization, I am a Health and Safety instructor. In this specific position, I have a crucial role in preparing and teaching the public on matters of health and safety. I carry out demonstrations on how various concepts in this topic can be applied. This is in line with the core goal of the organization, which encompasses the alleviation of human suffering in its national and international capacity. The Red Cross Society of America is a not for profit organization. It equips people with knowledge, concept, and skills on disaster preparedness. In this case, the information can enable people to minimize loss of lives and damage to properties in the event of a disaster. It also provides emergency assistant services and relief to affected people. Consequently, they can get medication, food, shelter, clothing, and counselling services that may reduce their suffering. As a Health and Safety Instructor in this organization, I am concerned with teaching people how they can behave and act during a disaster to minimize suffering. The organization has a core mission, which is to reduce human suffering without discriminating. The American Red Cross organization embraces Creativeness, Compassionate, Credibility, and Commitment as fundamental values that guide its operations. In this organization, the person at the top of the organization structure has more powers. For instance, the Chief Executive Officer has more powers and authority in the organization. The management board members come second in terms of power and authority. Those at the lowest part of the structure have less power compared to those above them. Although the organization enjoys tax-exempt, the American Red Cross is privately owned since it is an independent entity. It engages in charity by helping the affected people during disasters; hence, it is socially responsible. Their operations are also purely voluntary. Therefore, this is an actual image of an ethical organization in society.

They provide medication, information, clothing, shelter, and food to ensure that they overcome the devastating situation presented by disasters. Thus, The American Red Cross is an ethical organization. Secondly, an ethical organization should be result oriented. The American Red Cross has a key focus on applying all its values and attaining results that people in need require. For instance, it uses creativity in developing strategies that can save lives and prevent property damages, and in the process, minimizes suffering during a disaster. In this case, it can be regarded as an ethical organization. Thirdly, an ethical organization has to have a high level of persistence amidst challenges. Since its establishment, The American Red Cross has operated for about a hundred years. If it could not be persistent, it could have failed long ago, given that it does focus on making any profit in the society. All along, it has encountered political, economic, and social problems. However, it has maintained its focus on the core values and goals. It has delivered humanitarian services to people affected by disasters in the United States and collaborated with other organizations within the Red Cross and other parts of the world. Basing on ethical relativism, focus on customers, result-orientation, and persistence traits are morally right in any ethical organization. This is the norm in such an organization. This may not be the case in unethical organizations. Therefore, a firm focus on customer needs, result achievement, and high levels of persistence at the American Red cross qualify it to be an ethical organization.
